Marriott Newport Coast Villas -Nov. Building/View Recommendation

Thank you!
Considering a first visit to the area.
If we fly into LAX we can fly direct but I see many recommend SNA.
We stayed a week at NCV a years ago the last week of October and we had 1 day of showers and the other 6 days were very pleasant..as a matter of fact our 2nd day there the temp reached a very warm 85 but by night time…we slept with our windows open…We flew into SNA…got our rental car and it was an easy drive to NCV…if you get a chance I would take the Catalina Flyer over to Catalina Island..the Flyer leaves from nearby Balboa Pier…We had a 30% discount through Groupon…We stayed in the 3900 building top floor and loved the location…quiet with a great view of sundowns over the Pacific.

Thank you @gln60 @Big Matt and @BJRSanDiego!

Any recommendations on things to do in November? No kids. Not interested in LA.

Glenn, I think you are east coast- what was your flight?

Trying to decide if it’s worth the long trip with a connection.

Our AA flight was out of Philadelphia with a 75 minute layover in Dallas and then to SNA…it wasn’t too bad because of the 3 hour time difference between the East and West coast..we landed around 2-3pm west coast time..as I mentioned we took the Catalina Flyer to Catalina….went to a Lakers game up in Los Angeles…went to a America concert in Anaheim and went to the Aquarium up in Long Beach..and took a half day trip through a company that took us to Venice Beach..Hollywood Walk of Fame…Santa Monica Beach and pier..Hollywood Blvd…Beverly Hills..etc…hope this helps.

Thank you! I will look at AA.
We will be coming out of Boston. I need to look for a warm location connection- we had huge headache last November.
Catalina trip seems to be on everyone’s list and we would enjoy the aquarium. A tour might be a great way to see some sites.
I’ve seen America too several time- that was the first concert I ever went to close to a half century ago- amazed they are still around.

One other thought.....fly direct into LAX and connect on the way home?

Also, I was there the second week of November three years ago, and the weather was 70-75 every day with sun and no rain. There is at least a couple of days to explore Newport Beach and Balboa. Laguna is 10 minutes south and is more difficult to deal with because it is spread out, but very cool. It's more artsy with galleries and some festivals. Dana Point on the water for lunch or sunset would be on the list. Farther sout is Capistrano and the famous Spanish Mission. San Diego is a doable day trip also.

Bear Flag Fish Company has poke for sale by the pound. Fresh fish. Can eat in or take out.

In the middle of the Crystal Cove Shopping Center , which also has Trader Joe's, Javier's, Mastro's Ocean Club, Modo Mio.
I second Bear Flag! The ceviche is good, too!

I’m from socal and have stayed at Newport coast many times, loved it so much that I am in the process of buying a week on the resale market there. Recs in November to do- LA is quite a drive if you don’t hit the traffic right. If you want to do the Hollywood stuff there are a ton of tours. Venice beach and manhattan beach are fun to visit. If you like history like I do there is a great holocaust museum due to the large Jewish population in LA. Santa Monica pier is really fun to go see and always busy, there is a boardwalk and Ferris wheel, etc. in Orange County I’d take the shuttle to Laguna beach for the day it’s a lot of fun. You could take a boat for the day out to Catalina island that’s really cool. There are also boats you can rent on balboa peninsula to go around on the bay, we always have done that at Christmas. The aquarium and queen mary in Long Beach are also great

Thank you!
No interest in LA/Hollywood/ traffic.
So things near the resort are of interest- beaches to walk, other walks/short hikes/gardens.

Okay when there in November I went and hiked at Crystal Cove state park, short walk or drive down PCH and it was a really cool morning hike. Its not the main area which is straight down from the villas, its down PCH right next to a school. You can also walk all the way down to crystal cove beach by leaving from Newport Coast Villas, then take the shuttle back if you don't want to go uphill. You can also walk down PCH to Corona Del Mar, I've run down there and its not too far

Heading to NCV in September with a 3 yr old and 6 month old, has anyone had experience with villas 1100 or 1200, noise, elevators issues or anything else?

We have always stayed down in that location - for years in 1100, but lately we enjoy 1200 building, it is just a little quieter and removed from the direct noise of the coast pool. Never any problem with elevators. Summer is winding down so the "Marco Polo" level should be dropping. Parking is convenient as well.

I’d think your 3 year old would love that pool by 1100. Please let us know how it goes….I may be asking the same question next year when our granddaughters will be with us.

Thanks, good to know.

The pool is perfect for the little ones, hopefully we can get into one of the villas right by the pool and let you know.

The only concern that I have about 1000 and 1100 is that the views of the ocean can be blocked by the foliage and that they are a hike up hills/stairs to the main building, activities center, marketplace, etc.
