We are starting a 3 week stay tomorrow in the older building at Maui Ocean Club (limited kitchen). I was informed today that we are assigned the same villa for all 3 weeks and it is one of the villas that has been renovated. There is now a walk in shower instead of tub shower combination which is great for my 89 year old father. We were concerned if he had to climb into a tub.

Does anyone know if the HDMI ports are usable on the TV’s? We would like to use our Roku Streaming stick in the evening. Last year at Ko Olina we could not get the TV to recognize the Roku but we called the front desk and they sent someone up from engineering to set it up.

Looking forward to our trip.

Hi. I spent probably too much time figuring this out. They switched to some weird system in the back of the TV w/ really little clearance.....then there is the issue of powering your stick! I was prepared this time w/ an HDMI six foot extension cord. Plug it into the right hand side of that box in the back...there should be 2 HDMI slots. Then you can use the hotel remote to switch inputs to either HDMI 1 or 2, depending on which one you inserted your stick into.

I made the mistake of disconnecting the overall box and then plugging in my Firestick and couldnt control the volume.....the places have made this a lot harder than need be.....don't even get me started about connecting to the wifi w/ the stick and "SCROLLING down" to accept the terms.....that requires pulling up a browser w/ your stick.

I travel with an LG & Samsung TV remote when I anticipate having a TV need. I have found that getting around the no volume control is fairly easy on such TV's. Many have a separate connection, like a phone line, and if you disconnect it, you can control the volume. If not or if the included remote is tied to the box, there's often a control that will work in the unit to control the volume. Most hotel type TV's also have an on TV control though they're often not obvious or intuitive. Streaming through the box often degrades the picture and colors quite a bit.

If all you plan to watch is YouTube or Amazon Prime, most of the televisions support this through the box on the back of the television. I wish they would support more streaming services.

When I've tried to use the streaming services through the included system I've had to sign in every time I used it for the places I've tried (MGO last month for example).

Though thankfully most systems now put a QR code on the screen so that the sign in process consists of pointing the camera at the screen and pressing <yes>.

*Much* better than having to enter a password w/numbers, symbols, and upper and lower case letters using a TV remote.
