I'm headed to Palm Desert and was wondering which of the Marriott properties is the best to stay at? Is golf included? Thanks in advance!

We liked Desert Springs I very much and specifically requested to be close to JW. Timeshare's space combined with top hotel amenities - perfect!

@JustynaC , I consider all to basically be "fungible" and all are nice. I typically choose which one I'm staying at based on availability. If I find availability at each, then, as a tie-breaker, I'd probably choose DSV2.

I have stayed at Jasmin Court (DSV2) and, while we enjoyed it, I don't care for it very much.

We stayed at DSV II in March and loved it. Front desk said if you stay at DSV I you get limited access to the JW pool area ( I think on weekdays only). We golfed at the two courses quite a bit. I think they gave us 10% off the green fees, although we typically played shortly after 2:00 p.m. to take advantage of the more inexpensive rates.

If you give some of your preferences and party type, people can probably steer you better. What will you do besides golf? Adults, kids, elderly, etc.

Biggest difference is that Shadow Ridge is more catered to kids and has a family feel. The DSVs are adjacent to the JW Marriott with restaurants and other amenities, generally this is preferred by those wihtout kids.

FYI, Desert Springs Villas I and II have no elevators. Second Floor villas require you to climb an exterior staircase.

We go annually in March to Desert Springs 1 for the Indian Wells Tennis Open. We request a unit as close to the JW as possible (units F G and H) so we can walk over, use their pool, gym etc and eat at their restaurants. The JW also has a bus that takes us to Indian Wells so we do not have to fight the parking lot crowds. DSV1 has privileges at the JW, DSV2 does not.

If my memory is right, there is a different bed configuration between the Guest Suites of DSV 1 and DSV 2. I seem to recall, that the Guest Suite of DSV 1 has two, double beds, and the Guest Suite of DSV 2 has a king bed, and a double or queen sleeper sofa.

Also, the entranceway and common entrance between the Master Suite and Guest Suite of DSV 1 and DSV 2 are quite different. At DSV 1, there is a common entrance door, leading to a large hallway/common area, and two separate doors, each leading to the Master and Guest Suite (that configuration is not what you typically find at MVC lock-off villas). If our children or grandchildren were of a certain age, we would be concerned about this configuration (at DSV 1). At DSV 2, there is no common entrance from the hallway, the Master Suite has its own entrance, and the Guest Suite has its own entrance, and between the two, is a common door.

We stay at Desert Springs Villas 1 every year for about 4 weeks in the winter and it is our preference because of the larger and more luxurious feel of the 1BR side. I think the 2BR if combined is about 1,700 sq ft. The studio side has 2 queen size beds but have both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. We like to invite friends to join us so DSVI is perfect because they get a ton of privacy by not having a direct connecting door to the 1BR side.

We usually golf 3 to 4 times a week when we stay there in the winter. We enjoy the Desert Springs Palm Course alot and prefer it to the Valley Course or the Shadow Ridge course, although the Shadow Ridge course is more highly rated. Shadow Ridge golf is also more expensive than Desert Springs' 2 courses.

We are seniors, and I have decided on Desert Springs Villas 1 and will request a unit new the JW Marriott.
Thanks to all that responded! It is much appreciated.

You might want to make a first floor villa, your highest priority, as the stairs with luggage, groceries, etc. are no picnic, if you are age/mobility limited (e.g. not Jack LaLanne).
