This is no surprise.

Is anyone really missing the Travel Lodge that was there? Sometimes we would have a view of it from Polo Towers and it just looked so sad, tucked in behind a strip mall full of gift shops. At least Polo and MGC in that area are nice resorts. I haven't checked out the new place that replaced the Hawaiian Marketplace yet, but heard it was open. The old Hawaiian Marketplace was sad, so hopefully it's an improvement.

Not surprised. Have you seen all of the social media reports recently that Vegas tourism has dropped significantly and venues are empty?
they are all over the place. I guess the algorithm is feeding the algorithm and I see more of it. Either that or it's a Guerilla marketing campaign gone wrong.

I don't know that venues are empty and there is a lot of exaggeration when it comes to these things. Some reports I saw seem to indicate that tourism is down about 11% vs same month a year ago. While that is a significant drop, I don't think it results in empty venues, just lower attendance.

The reports I have seen indicate the lower end resorts like Xcalibur have suffered significant declines
The high end places like the Bellagio have no declines in bookings
Coincides with Delta Airlines report of selling more First Class and Delta Plus seats in the last 2 quarters
The same story
People with higher levels of disposable income are not slowing down
People with lower levels of disposable income are cutting back on discretionary spending
Will be interesting to see what the fall and winter bring

Rentals are down in Tahoe. July fully booked (biggest money month) but the average cost per night is lower. June and August low.

Good to know. I was thinking of picking up a grand residence to try my hand at renting but with only one of thirteen weeks in July on average that’s not going to work if rentals other times are slowing.

Not sure if is chicken or egg. I've seen some crazy good prices for 1st and premium across flights we have booked (including Delta). It may be that if you can get Bellagio at previous Excalibur prices, well . . .

Since international visitors account for 20% of those visiting LV and the same group are currently visiting the US much less than previously, I would think that is the largest factor. We've also seen softening in airlines prices and cruise prices with further declines expected.

I think the percentage is lower than that. Closer to 10%. Maybe 12%. Not 20%. 4.6MM foreign tourists visited Las Vegas in 2023 and Vegas sees about 40MM tourists each year.

I saw quotes from 10 to 20% in different sources. Regardless, I think that’s at least part of the reason for the decline.

I haven't seen any decrease in travel from Las Vegas to Seattle. Alaska is running 7 to 8 flights a day and they are all packed.

I suspect most of the decline is foreign tourism rather than domestic.

It isn't just any one single factor. Drive ins to Las Vegas are down, domestic fly ins are down. International is down.
Here's a video from the other day that discusses some of the recent numbers.
