Bankrupt / Closed Timeshare resorts

Festiva management of timeshares is interesting. I wonder if the Ellington timeshare in SC have an elected timeshare board and the Church Street Inn also in SC. Both closed recently. At Southcape on Cape Cod, one of the two condominiums has closed and sold in April 2025.. The funny thing is the property was in a trust but the trust didn’t sell it’s holding. So, bidding on the property was limited as developers didn’t go for the messy title holding business. It has not settled yet. Festiva sold to a developer will to buy cancaled timechare deeds with no warrant of condominium title. Goofy and probably unlawful to sell something you don’t really own. I understand one owner at Festiva’s Ellington appealed her termination loss of $17,000 to the U.S. Supreme Court. (Dismissed on technicalities)

Latin was next on my list of foreign languages to study in college, but I ran out of time! Please translate!

We owned Westgate and when they added Planet Hollywood it was the big selling point. I tried to get a reservation for a couple years but no luck. They sold it and pooped on the Westgate owners

Lots of speculation of delinquent fees and such causing resorts to declare bankrupcy and close down, but its rarely ever in the news when this actually happens unless its a major resort.

As we have been doing some emails to members about resorts that have not been updated in many years, its come to no surprise that a number of replies have been from owners informing us that the resort has closed or shut down due to a myriad of issues.

I wanted to start listing these resorts somewhere as owners provide the information on the closings...so here we go:

I think Mansfield Country Resort in Australia will be going on that list soon. I keep hoping for the updates on that and saw I have something in the mail today about it. I won't know what it says until I get home in a week. Anxious to see the news.

Mountainside Lodge in Whistler has been sold to cover their huge debts and is no longer a timeshare. Which is not great news for us as we owned three weeks.
