Got a exchange so my wife can attend some classes at Chef Rubber in Vegas.
Looking for other stuff to do that folks don't usually think about.
We have done the Dam.
Things along the line of Ethel M factory tour and tasting.

I’ve wanted to check out the neon museum but haven’t done it yet.

Here are some things that I found interesting:
1. Mob museum
2. Atomic Energy museum
3. Shelby Cobra museum and manufacturing
4. Valley of Fire state park (especially the white dome slot canyon, petroglyphs, etc.)
5. Red rock park
6. Mount Charleston hike
7. Shooting machine guns at indoor range off of the strip. (It's safe and run by ex-military).

All of these suggestions are great. I recommend doing the Neon Museum at night for the best effect. There are also a lot of nice golf courses available if you play golf. Top Golf is also a fun option.

I would second the Mob Museum and Shelby American Plant/Museum. I'd add that Fremont street, esp at night on weekends, is a spectacle and the El Cortez casino is worth a walk at the far end. While not the oldest casino technically, it did seem to have the most old casino vibe. Of course any trip downtown might feature the largest gold nugget. The Mandalay Bay Shark reef is worth a stop as well. And best of all might be people watching. One might also view the Bellagio fountains water show.

Neon Museum is great! If you are a member of a local museum, you may be able to get in free.

We took a day trip to Death Valley. It was a long day but really was spectacular. I was expecting a desolate desert landscape and it was not that at all.

Red Rock Canyon, Lake Meade, Mojave Preserve are also in driving distance and each enjoyable in their own way.

Ethel M's is fun. There is a culinary arts program with a restaurant called Westside Bistro. Might be good to check out. Also look at Groupon and Get Your Guide. There are some foodie walks that sound fun... Look at Frommers.com for ideas. Today's Tix might have some show bargains. We found a place around the corner from The Sphere and just watched it from the roof of a parking garage. Sounds kindof goofy but it's pretty fascinating.

Sorry did not see your Dam quote 😕

echino reminded me of another interesting trail near Las Vegas, the Petroglyph Canyon Trail in Sloan Canyon. (I am not talking about the trail with a similar name in Valley of Fire.)

Here's a link to get you started, but there are other sites. (Right now I'm not finding the main trail guide I used.)

A few tips:
1. If you are in Vegas in the summer, I would NOT attempt this. Probably too hot for safe hiking. I went in early April.
2. The trail splits at one point. The fork to the right is the "Cowboy Trail." I'm not an expert hiker, nor am I as young as I once was, so that's the route I chose. The Cowboy Trail climbs a bit (it's an easy climb), then loops around to the left and gradually descends into the area with the petroglyphs. If you choose to go straight ahead rather than take the Cowboy side trail, you will have to climb 3 dry falls. The 3rd dry fall is a steep and tricky 15 foot climb. (The above link underestimates the difficulty IMHO.)
3. Since I want to have fun and not break an ankle, after viewing the petroglyphs and eating lunch, we then turned around to retrace our steps, returning the way we came rather than risk sliding down the dry falls. You are a much braver and more daring soul than I if you attempt those dry falls in either direction.

Agreed, Death Valley has spectacular views and well worth the trip. Went in March of 2025 and April of 2024 while staying at MGC. It's a 2 hour drive each way with no traffic once you are out of Las Vegas. You drive by Area 51 on the way there and back.

Our 2025 day trip included stops at the Furnace Creek Visitor center and Zabriskie Point and drives through Artists Palette and Twenty Mule Team Canyon.

We rafted down the Colorado river, and that was really fun.

If I were heading to Las Vegas we would probably try to get tickets to see the Eagles at the Sphere. I heard it's a pretty good concert.

I have looked at the prices and it's a little too spendy for me in view that Glenn Frey is dead. I also like to buy the best seats when I go to a show.

I'm told that Joe Walsh does the job and that there are no bad seats but when I look for tickets it seems that many have a limited view of the stage. The stage is shown on the sphere screen so I'm not sure the limited view matters. The prices are about the same as any other A list group in concert, imo. What I like about the sphere, even though I haven't been there yet, is you get to sit in a seat throughout the concert. Alot of concerts we have been to has many people standing obstructing the view even if you do manage a sweet spot.

Not playing when we are there, but would also add that Vince Gill is part of the band now too so its good a band. But they haven't been the Eagles since they fired Don Felder

Gamble at an Off Strip casino.

We went to see the Eagles at the Sphere on the 2nd weekend. It was a great show, and I would go back if they are still playing next time we are in Vegas. We did have an obstructed view, which I would avoid if possible in the future.

The obstructed views at the Sphere are when you are seated farther back under the second deck of seating. We had a great view of the stage and the band, but due to the seating deck above us, we missed a considerable amount of the screen.

As for other activities, I would second the recommendation for both the Mob Museum and the Neon Museum.

I see on the tickets available that some are noted as obstructed view. I was wondering what the obstruction was so thanks for the heads up.

We went to see the Dead at the sphere. We had obstructed view, which basically meant we could afford the tickets. No regrets, best sound quality I have ever experienced at a concert, it felt like I was wearing high quality headphones while getting the concert-going experience. I look forward to seeing more shows there.
