I think someone paid for our Costco

We had a full cart at Costco a couple of weeks ago in Puero Vallarta. We had alot of family here for 10 nights. One of the items I bought is a 16 pack of razors but I found the others I had misplaced so we decided next trip to Costco we would return them.

We had the receipt and the razors but the card used to purchase this entire purchase isn't my card. I didn't understand this and the service guy at Costco tried to explain the problem so I nodded , smiled, thanked him and went shopping.

I think what the Costco service guy was telling me was that someone else paid for our items after I showed him both of of my cards.

So some nice guy paid about $150.00 usd on purpose for some random guy or the cashier made a mistake and some random guy is getting our bill.

I kind of wonder if I'm getting some random person's bill next month if some random guy is getting mine.

I do have the receipt which I plan to keep just in case. It's today's odd dealio.

I would bet you got the customer's receipt that went before you and that is all it is.

Have you checked the card(s) online to see if the purchase is one of them.?

Shouldn't it say on the receipt how it was paid. Like the last 4 digits of the card, you used. Maybe you were given wrong receipt?

How did you exit the building with the wrong receipt. That Costco checkout person did not look at the total numbers of items you paid for correctly.

The only two credit cards I brought to Puerto Vallarta are what I called both of my cards. One is my Citi Bank Costco card.

No, that was why we couldn't return the razors. The last four numbers on the receipt is different than the last four numbers on our card.

The receipt has our purchases on it such as the razors I was trying to return. We made three purchases at Costco and two show the last four numbers of our citi Bank Costco card. The first purchase we made is the one with the last four numbers of the payment having the wrong last four numbers.

Mystery solved after calling Citibank. The card ending in the unknown four numbers is my wife's card. I told her what Citibank thought so she looked and found the card in her business payment book. The first week we were here in PV she had the card in her purse and we used that card for that purchase.

Interesting is my card has a different number than her card but both cards are paid in the same account.

If you don’t have the Costco app on your phone I recommend that as you can view all your prior purchases from the app itself saving you from having to make a phone call. It is also handy if you need to return something and can’t find the physical receipt.

I am an authorized user on my wife’s Costco Visa and can confirm, at least for this card and like @easyrider, that we have two different CC numbers.

That's what we thought. Especially since the cards are associated to a business.

A different problem is the inability to use the Costco Citibank card at the Costco food court at the PV location to identify your membership. The result was no hotdog for Bill. I probably shouldn't be eating those anyway. I don't at home.

I am an authorized user on my wife’s Costco Visa and can confirm, at least for this card and like @easyrider, that we have two different CC numbers.

Perhaps because the Costco Vista is also tied to the member and each member has a different Costco membership number? For every Vista and MC card my wife and I have where we are authorized users, the card number, expiration date and CVV is identical.

You are likely spot on. Our Costco Visa card doubles as our membership card. Our individual Costco membership numbers and photos are on the back of the credit card so it makes sense that an individual credit card number would be needed to tie them together. It is the back of the credit card that we scan when we enter the store. Not sure if everyone has their Costco Visa card set up that way.
