Thanks

Yes, they are all lock off units. Though it wouldn't matter if they weren't.

I regularly use your Marriott Unit code compendium. It is very useful. Thanks.

I just looked at it, and unless I messed up (it happens), I see the following unit codes for 2 BR units:
TOVI - Dedicated 2 BR unit
THMV - 2 BR part of 3 BR (lock off)
ZZAA - 2 BR LO

So, that makes me wonder if any TOVI units were sold, or if all deeded 2 BR units are considered LO units when making a res. (unless a person reserves the full 2 BR unit).

Hi @dioxide45 could you clarify why it wouldn't matter. I thought if you were trying to use II for an exchange, a lock-off will give you the ability to get two different exchanges which you would not be able to do when the two bedroom is not a lock-off.

I think that may be some confusion on the different types of two bedroom units (not including the 2BR side of the 3BR lock off) and I defaulted to thinking TOVI was a dedicated unit when I created that list. There are indeed two different codes for 2BR units; ZZAA and TOVI. In the recorded documents for the trust, I see they have 2BR Standard and 2BR Deluxe. Based on a previous post from @billymach4 from when he was there, the front desk told him there was no difference between these ZZAA and TOVI. Perhaps they gave a different designation to units in one of the newer towers. I am still not sure. I even see three desginations for 1BR units sold; 1BR Standard, 1BR Classic and 1BR Sky. They didn't sell individual parts of the 3BR units, so those aren't part of the confusion. It is possible they only have one unit code associated with all three of the 1BR units but for whatever reason they have two different codes for the 2BR units. I don't know and do wish I could get some clarification on it all.

Looking at the resort view diagram you created, what we can see of the floor plans of the 2BR units, they all look like lock offs. It may be possible there are dedicated 2BRs in tower 3 since we don't have the small floor plan lines. That said, based on what Billy was told, I don't think there is any difference other than a name and perhaps what tower they are in.

If a resort has lock offs, and non-lock offs in a floating weeks system, it doesn't matter if you own a lock off or not, you would be able to book a lock off, if one was available at the time you made your resy.

At resorts with a floating unit reservation system, if you own a 2BR unit and some of the 2BR units lock off and some don't you will always have the ability to lock off based on availability. So even if the unit you purchase is a dedicated unit, you would still be able to lock it off and book each side at a resort that also has lock off units.

Thanks for the info. That is really interesting to know. Does this apply to Vistana systems too? Specifically SBP. Reading the Vistana MF thread (@rickandcindy23 supplied info), it seems SBP has both 2 bedroom dedicated and 2 bedroom lock-offs with some significant MF differences.

No, this doesn't apply with Vistana. If you own a dedicated 2BR unit at a resort like SBP, you can only reserve a dedicated 2BR unit. The unit types between a dedicated 2BR and a 2BR lock off within the Vistana system are very different.

We own a 2 Bed lock off at Grand Chateau, which is enrolled.
We always used to lock off and fairly easily exchange through Interval for 2 weeks of 2 Bed units at other MVC resorts.
Since Interval exchanges started to get confirmed later though and we mostly take long haul flights, we tend to elect for points and book with these for the guarantee of earlier confirmations.

When you elect points and book with points, are those reservations at MVC resorts? Or are you exchanging with points in Interval? Thanks.

When we elect our enrolled weeks for points, we use those for bookings at other MVC resorts.
I don’t believe that you can use enrolled weeks elected points with Interval, we don’t anyway.
