The closest is probably the Hyatt in Carmel, which is gorgeous, but it's really expensive. I wouldn't count on anything for $100 per night, and that is what people seem to think they should get rentals. That's why most people don't get their wishes here on this board. You should check ads on Redweek, My Resort Network, and TUG.

Rickandcindy are correct. The Hyatt nightly rate runs around $600-700 unless it is a special event and goes higher. Next door, the Tickled Pink hotel (in spite of its goofy name it is a nice place) goes for perhaps $350 a night. The OP may want to consider booking something with a site like Hotels dot com as a refundable in case nothing else comes through.

Also check out Inns By the Sea. It's a series of B&B type hotel/motels in Carmel. We've stayed with them, at different properties, over the years. Good locations. You still won't find anything for $100 a night or less though.

I saw a timeshare in Pacific Grove called ‘Pine Acres Lodge” and listed on TUGS is a one bedroom cottage at this property for sale for “free” only cost is to split the closing cost Annual dues are $716.00. So reasonable cost timeshares still exist in the Monterey area

Maybe you should grab that then. I've stayed there. Funky little place.

Well, like I said, you can look at TUG classifieds, My Resort Network, and Redweek for that type of rental.

You could always say in your Timeshares Wanted, "I am willing to pay more for the accommodations than the $100 per night."

Try Pine Acres Lodge in Pacific Grove. They often have open units. Email: palmanager@yahoo.com or Phone: (831) 372-6651.

Location is very close to the start of 17 Mile Drive.

Let me know if they have an opening. I'm an owner there (one fixed week in June) and may be able to get an owner's rate. Most, maybe all, units are a Sunday check-in.
