Sounds like Air Canada Rouge (Air Canada's discount holiday airline...except the fares really aren't discounted)!! I won't travel in regular economy on any AC Rouge aircraft. The pitch is only 29" on the 737s and 30" on the 767s. If I have no choice on a particular route, I pony up and pay for either Rouge Plus (35" pitch) or Rouge Premium (their equivalent of business class).

Airlines will continue the "cattle car" approach to economy travel, as long as air travellers keep demanding lower and lower air fares. Very little else today costs less than it did years ago, especially after accounting for inflation. If people would stop buying these seats, then the airlines would be forced to reconfigure them. Simple economics. :wall::wall:

Slow-mo travel via car + rail may well be a a more viable option,
unless, that is, it would take more than a few days or cross an ocean.

100% AA will add more upgraded seats at huge cost. Only to sit in the previous pitch seating. Enough already. When does this become dangerous to emergency exiting?

I was on an Alaska Air 737 flight last week that seemed to have the new interior and small toilets. I thought it was fine, though obviously smaller. I’m not sure this is exactly the same setup as AA or not.

I expect this change on AA will encourage me to pay for the seats with slightly more room on every flight. I do that now for longer flights (>3 hours) almost every time anyway.

I remember the “More Room” seats on AA with fondness now, when at the time it just seemed like a good business decision for the airline.

https://www.nytimes.com/2000/02/04/business/american-air-to-put-more-room-in-coach.html

From Feb 2000:

When the $70 million project is complete, about 58 percent of American's coach seats will have a ''seating pitch'' of 34 inches or more.

Now even the extra fee Main Cabin Extra is only going to have 33 inches.

Not sure a boycott will make much of an impact. There are so many traveling pubic and limited options. Suggest that calling the AA reservation desk, asking about the pitch, the terrible "oasis" hoax project name. Then decline to book. Really does not matter if you want to go anywhere, but imagine what would AA do with the worse rated, longest time customer service...DOH, sorry they probably already do.

Southwest has great legroom. I don't know how long that will last.

But how do we get to Europe and Asia? Sigh.

Last couple of trips I noticed even my young daughters are having a hard time leaning over and getting their small bags out from underneath the seat in front of them.
