What if I want to cancel with II?

Today I booked an exchange with a check in date of October 4th, 2009. What if something I like better becomes available tonight while searching? Can I still cancel the exchange I booked today? Or will I lose my exchange fee?
Can I book another resort tonight, then call and cancel the other one tomorrow or can you cancel a week online?

Thanks!

You can cancel with no penalty and just get your week back within 24 hours. That is not one business day, that is 24 hours, exactly. You can't cancel online, you have to call in.

If you cancel after 24 hours, you lose your exchange fee.

If you cancel within 60 days of check-in, you can only use the deposit to make an exchange 60 days out from check-in, the next time. (Flex-change)

For all the details see the II FAQ at the top of the board.

You booked on September 20 for Oct 4.

You would lose the exchange fee if you cancel beyond 24 hours. If you cancel within 13 to 7 days of check-in, you would be given a replacement week to book only for a week within 30 days to 24 hours of check-in. If you cancel less than 7 days in advance, you would lose both the exchange fee and the week.

Section 8(c)(iii) on p.7 of II's 2009 Guide:

http://www.intervalworld.com/pdf/iw/buyers-guide.pdf

"(iii) When a Member notifies II of his or her desire to cancel
the Confirmation from 13 to seven days prior to the first date of
occupancy of his or her Host Accommodations, the Member
may request substitute exchange accommodations from limited
travel destinations 30 days to 24 hours prior to the first date
of occupancy of such substitute exchange accommodations."

So, even though I am using Worldmark credits to exchange, II will still give me a replacement week? (instead of credits?)

So, if I cancel this within 24 hours of when I booked it, I will keep my exchange fee and I will get a replacement week? Another Tugger mentioned above that as long as I cancel within 24 hours I will get my week back...confusing. Which is it? I get my original week back OR because it's 13 days out I will get a replacement week?

Thanks!

If you cancel within 24hr, regardless of the timeframe II will return your exchange fee and not take your credits out of your Worldmark account (assuming you used Request First) You're past 24hrs, so that's all theoretical. If you call within 24hrs you can cancel, if you wait longer than 24hrs, the other rules come into it.

The other rules are as LLW said because fo the timeframe. You loose the exchange fee and you will get a refund of credits to your II account that you can use as a Deposit First, with the time constraints. They won't refund credits back to your Worldmark account, in theory they could've already made what you exchanged available and it may be booked by someone else (though that's pretty unlikely)

Thanks everyone! Cancelled it today and got the CC refunded and had no WM credits taken. Yay! :whoopie:

If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, AND before 7 days, you will get the exchange fee and the credits refunded.

If you cancel within the last 7 days, you will not get a refund of anything, even if you are within 24 hours of booking, i.e. if you book within the last 7 days, if you cancel, you won't get the fee or credits back, nor will you get a replacement week. Essentially, there is no cancellation within the last 7 days.

If you cancel after 24 hours of booking, but before 7 days of check-in, you will lose the exchange fee, but get a replacement week.

In your case, you are before 7 days, and within 24 hours, therefore you get the fee back. The credits are a different story: it's done by WM, not by II. WM will deduct the credits for the booking. They should refund the credits for the cancellation, if they don't make any mistake. You will need to watch them. I have cancelled a Flexchange within 24 hours, and WM took the credits and did not refund them on the cancellation. I had to call them, and they immediately corrected the mistake while we were on the phone.
