We stayed for a few nights at a WorldMark via a friend's reservation. I liked it, and I think it might fit our travel style. We will buy on the resell market when ready. However, I'd like to stay at a different location before committing to the buying process. I've found https://www.clubwyndhamvacationrentals.com. Which does list the location and dates that work for us. Is this my best option?

Thanks.
Vic

May try AFVC (if you have access) or ExtraHolidays.com or RCI; all funnel to same Wyndham backbone & WM inventory...

No. We currently do not own any timeshares. I'm trying to figure out how to dip our toes in.

Thanks.

Neither Armed Forces Vacation Club nor Extraholidays.com, mentioned by @mountainboy, requires owning a timeshare. They are outlets used by RCI for renting out timeshare availability that would otherwise go unused.

I don't know how well these all play into booking Worldmark properties specifically, but if it is RCI inventory you are looking for then if you're not eligible for AFVC (Armed Forces Vacation Club) you may be able to join All Resort Store. You can join as an AARP member. Check out this thread for RCI weeks based travel clubs that essentially give you access to book RCI Extra Vacations.

There is also a newer company out there called myRESORT Co-Op where you buy a set number of RCI points annually with only a three year commitment. You get the number of points each year and pay the applicable RCI exchange fees when making an exchange. RCI membership is included and I think it may also get you access to Extra Vacations and Last Call.

Worldmark owners are allowed to rent out units they book with their points. It’s in the contract.
Is that true?
Did not know that.
Hope not too many folks do this (have seen some folks advertise these at WM FB group which upsets many of us, as these are prime locations at prime times which takes away from other owners, just trying to book reservations for themselves/families. I know Wyndham had cracked down on mega-renters at CW, not sure of status at Woldmark? Maybe other WM Gurus can chime in?
TY!

Not sure it's really in the contract. It's in the members' guidelines. WM does have issues with megarenters and has taken some actions to limit them. The megarenter issue impacts some of the hard to get reservations like Marina Dunes where people can rent for much more than it costs to reserve through WM.

+ Seaside for summer
+ Kihei/HI in Maui
+ Kona/HI
+ Oceanside/summer
+ Yellowstone/summer
+ Estes/Summer
etc
Hope they DO keep it tight so folks don't get these for just renting & take away availability from all of us, who are just trying to spend some precious time with our loved ones (& can't access these prime loxns/times due to these mega-renters scooping up precious inventory for profit). Not nice...

Thanks so much. This is great info. The AllResortStore has significantly better deals than booking through the ClubWyndham site, but not as much flexibility. Luckily, we are flexibility.

If you can find a WM buddy that will rent out their credits and/or reservations and let you get Monday Madness deals that would be useful too. I use the heroesvacatiinclub.com site and it is very useful too. only problem is these sites are going to have more off season deals. There are plenty of owners that would love to make reservations for you when they haven’t used all their credits. Even better if they have extra housekeeping and guest tokens.

Still debating whether to get a WM or not as well but I ended getting a HGVC property first so I can go to Hawaii, Mexico, Miami, Park City, Breckenridge, and Carlsbad. I probably won’t even use the HGVC for any of their other properties.
For me Worldmark is a much better fit than HGVmax overall due to their large list of locations in desirable locations.

For those living on the West Coast WM has the most locations although someone said Vacation International is quite good too for west coast but I haven’t looked into that much yet.

Have both WM & HGV!
Love HGV!
Excellent amenities & CS!
WM took forever to xfr (had done a ton of vacays with HGV in the meantime)..
WM has excellent footprint on West coast; lots of things covered with no xtra fees at peasant level unlike HGV (reserv fee, GCs, able to cxl upto 2 weeks before, waitlists etc) + able to get for free all day long + no fancy places to get for better 'deal' or lower MFs: everyone pays the same clum membership, as no deed etc.
Don't know anything about VI so will let others chime in (but seems like it was just acquired by Westgate who is notorious for not being nice to resale, as I recall)..
TY!

As an RCI member was able to book a week each in 2-bedroom units at Worldmark Marina Dunes this past March and Worldmark Moab for later this fall as Extra Vacations. Don't recall the cost of Marina Dunes offhand but fee for Moab including tax is $841 which we are splitting with our friends.

Do these mega renters have some secret access to reserve weeks that "regular owners" like you do not?

Don't know but not nice for some 'Pros' to snatch away precious reservations from avg Joe's, to sell them for profit...

The worst one is Wyndham….

They use their large multiple contracts to grab high demand units in the system through manipulation of waitlists

Lots of mega renter defenders here in the worldmark forum.

Glad Wyndham brought the hammer down on them in the Club Wyndham side.

See post #17
Yes pls (& agree)...
Was commenting on coskier's comment re not being Wyndham; so trying to understand are there mega-renters on WM side too, who are impacting availability for all of us, for these prime locations/times & if so, what can we do about it?
TY!

Yes - I was referring to WM mega renters who for example book all the 3BD at Seaside for the summer or all the Indio units during Coachella. There are some work arounds dicussed on wmowners.
