The state of Hawaii is under a Tsunami Warning with the Earthquake in Russia. There are warnings posting all over. Sounds like the Sirens may be going off soon too. We'll see. 🤙🏻

It's been reported that the tsunami is between 3 ft and 9 ft and the high tide today is about 1 ft. So that would be about 10 ft high end, 5 ft median and a couple ft at the low end.

@slip , I wonder if the ocean will recede in front of your place.

I have heard it could be that high not that it is. Sounds like Japan only had about a foot so that's a good sign.

No Sirens here yet. They did go off in our old neighborhood, Waikiki on Oahu. I'm only three blocks from our evacuation place, Kilohana School.

I'm staying updated on my radio. Nothing much to report yet.🤙🏻

Now it sounds like Japan is expecting nine foot waves. Still monitoring.

Waikiki live cam. Nothing really happening.

When I lived on Oahu in the early 60's we were woken up several times in the middle of the night by the Tsunami (Tidal Wave) Sirens and had to Evacuate to Barbara Point Naval Air Station. The first time we did not know what was going on. Our neighbors knocked on our door and explained it to us. Nothing much happened. When my #2 Son was studying Japanese he explained that the English Translation for Tsunami was Tidal Wave.

People need to understand and recognize that a tsunami is not like a typical wave you see at the beach. It is not a 10 foot (or whatever height) that is narrow in length and crashes harmlessly (usually) on the sand, and retreats. Tsunami pulses can last 5-10 minutes straight, with their wave height inundating low lying areas miles inland from the coast. Think of it more like a river surge (as in the recent Texas tragedy.)

I’m at Kukui grove evac from Kauai’s beach club MVC. Not the best week to go lol

You will definitely have a trip story !!!

It really depends on how much water gets sucked into the wave is my impression. As the tsunami approaches shallower coastal waters, its speed decreases, its wavelength shortens, and its height increases. Of course if there isn't too much of a tsunami there isn't too much if any water getting displaced.

I've been watching the live cam of Maui Beach and it looks like a nice calm ocean. I think the tsunami wasn't much of a tsunami thank God.

Could be, the third wave was the largest at Midway but that may not tell us much. We'll still have to wait and see.

They are talking about giving the all clear tonight instead of tomorrow now so that's good. Sounds like we'll know more in a couple hours.🤙🏻

They just announced that we are past the worse of it and they now have to decide when they can give the all clear. Probably a couple of hours. 🤙🏻

Back at Kaua’i beach club MVC. Optimism let us back in but still have our emergency bags ready just in case

*bleep* follows me for some reason. Was in Japan during an earthquake. 2 days before landed the Taiwan earthquake and now this. No idea why.

You have been blessed with an interesting life might be why.
