Change to Redweek process and all those extra fees... And not in a good way.... [MERGED]

Hmmmm . . . after being told in my email conversation with Redweek customer support that existing reservations could no longer be edited, I see now that the "Edit Details" button is back.

Does it work? Does it work on the entire ad?

Yes - but it kicks you over into full-service mode if you try to change the dates.

i think perhaps the issue with that is many people will change a listing to a completely different week and even a completely different resort vs posting a new listing all to avoid the fees.

we had this happen with enough frequency in the TUG marketplace (and those listings are free) we had to implement something like that as well...preventing an owner from switching an existing listing to a different resort or point system etc.

can see that being a much more frequently exploited situation when doing so would allow you to avoid paying additional fees for a new listing.

I have now modified two of my old, DIY listings, and, although it takes you to that page, I just continue with the modification, save changes, and it's done without payment or changing the type of listing.

Hmmmm... I will take a closer look at it.

Revised: It asked me to provide my verification info for a full-service Ad, but I ignored it, and it let me proceed as normal, I think...

It seems to have changed back to "normal." If you have Ads [that still have time on them, you can edit them and renew them, without changing them to full-service.]

Back to normal with the exception that there is still only one type of listing going forward - Full Service Verified & Protected.

It seems like they now handle all inquiries for the owner - so not more "get in touch" option. Actually, the link is there but when you click it it says "Contact Redweek Agent".

Given how unresponsive they have been to my inquiries on timeshares for sale (managed by Redweek) - this can make an owner on the rental side now look bad and unresponsive, and potentially miss out on a rental through not fault of their own.

Ugh, that sounds terrible. Yes, they are not very responsive, IMO.

And the whole "Redweek handles inquiries" is nonsense.

I had a renter ask me once if I can change a 7-night rental to 3 nights. The answer (for a Marriott rental) would first depend on the type of booking - weeks or points reservation... and if it is a points reservation that can be modified, my willingness to do it would depend on the proximity to the checkin date and on the price. There is no way the Redweek agent can handle all that back and forth effectively.

@DanCali

Are you 100% sure of This. I had a renter reach out to me 2 weeks ago regarding an arrival that was reserved last week?

The change may have happened as of Friday the 18th at the same time they removed the V&P DIY option.

But was your listing full service? Older listings that are still DIY will contact the owner.

Well, this solidifies my desire to never rent from Redweek... Seems like I ought to be able to do the same thing for hundreds less because of all the fees.

All of my DIY RW listings have expired. That means I have to start using V/P for everything. This is not great. I have multiple units at SBR for some specific dates for 2026. Multiple units for a specific date always required just one ad, ran for six months, and I had no problem renting more than one with the same ad. Facing a fee of $60 per listing + $99 success fee means no more RW for SBR.

Yes it was full service. I suspect this was done in order to prevent owners from siphoning off future customers and their contact info.

I've always used the full-service listings and I've had renters contact me directly with questions.

I just listed one (after the change) and when I click on "get in touch" I see this ('contact redweek agent") - does yours have that too?

You still need all the contact info when someone actually rents from you in order to make the name change.

saw a whole bunch of marriott rentals get posted last night/early today.... I hope owners who find the prices for listing on other sites find some success renting on TUG instead as an alternative!

I went out and clicked on a few, some indicate to contact the Redweek agent, some say you are contacting the seller. Perhaps it has something to do with when the listing was created?

I was surprised (perhaps shouldn't have been) to see the number of rental listings for the one resort I looked at (Surf Club). Over 1,300 and that doesn't even include those that are grouped because of the same dates.
