Look, I know I'm a 65 year old, white guy who was not the target of the half-time show. BUT it hard to have a show that was targeted only to people who like rap. Then have so many in the media say WOW that was the best halftime show ever. REALLY?? Maybe if you like rap for for the rest of us it was really bad. And not the good kind of "bad".

Every year the half-time show appeals to some and not to others, doesn’t matter the genre. The one consistent thing that can be said about it every year is, if you didn’t like this year’s show then you’ll probably like next year’s.

My top two are still Springsteen and Prince but I can appreciate that last night’s show was rare in that it brought together multiple pioneers in their genre who between them have won many, many awards, and collectively have as much claim to the social consciousness as the 60’s folk artists. This year’s artists earned their right to that stage.

I am a baby boomer and really enjoyed the half-time show. I like a lot of different music genre, including country, hip hop and rap.. We always watch the super bowl, but i don't really remember many of the past half time shows, unless they generated a lot of controversy..

It definitely was much more than just rap. I grew up in LA when these guys were in their prime. I think the show was more meant as a reflection of LA, as opposed to targeting any particular viewer. Most of the half time shows have been garbage, I thought this was in the top few best that I can remember.

I'm 60 and I thought it was one of the best HT shows in history.

I'm definitely not a fan of rap and don't understand how it can be called music when hardly anyone sings or plays a musical instrument. I consider them to be artists and entertainers, but not music. I appreciated the showmanship, but had to turn off the sound. :)The problem now is that most great rock bands are getting too old to perform. I was disappointed in the Who a few years ago. Most of my older and younger friends hate rap, but we also hated bubblegum, most disco, and head banging metal. Perhaps they can offer a mixture of performers rather than predominantly one style that can be polarizing.

I was much more disappointed in the terrible officiating at the end of the game.

 Didn’t watch. Gave up on NFL years ago. On a higher note I’m binging China Beach. I never watched it when it came out in the 80’s. It’s really good.

Love that show! Which streaming service is carrying it?

I appreciated the lack of nudity, the lack of vulgarity, and the lack of humping. That said - I couldn't understand a word that was said. The fact that 17% of the population commanded 100% of the show was a big statement by the NFL. I wouldn't mind a Country themed show one year. But, I don't think they take votes on the subject.

I agree with other posters that music and Super Bowl half-time shows can appeal to different groups of people
My favorite top two super bowl shows are Springsteen and the Stones --- but I'm also an old(er) ... white ...... male
.
Maybe next year it will be country and western theme music ;)

I expect all we will ever get is the "fat Elvises" of the day.

It takes time to be famous enough for the "big guys" to think the act will draw a big audience.

Meanwhile, there are always "up and comers" on Youtube. . .

I remember Tom Petty and Paul McCartney have done half time shows

But is that the good kind of "bad" - or just plain "bad"

I enjoyed it but the old school rap is kind of my era. It’s hard to do a great show in 15 minutes no matter who it is.

Im old enough to remember the Up with People years which was truly horrible.

¿People actually watch the Half Time Show? I was making Nachos and other Food for the 2nd Half. I do not think I have watched a Half Time Show in over 20 years. I watch for the Game and the Commercials.

They could do away with the Half Time Show. It would certainly cut down on the time needed for the Game.

I know some people that only watch the Super Bowl for the half time show and don't care about sports, football or the NFL ... o_O

We are Gen X and watched it on YouTube because we didn't want to switch the TV over to the OTA antenna. We didn't watch any of the game. We thought the half time was okay. The set was odd and certainly made for TV. Most people in the stands probably couldn't see what was going on underneath or inside that thing. All the songs seemed to have been slowed down a fair bit from how they would have been done when released.

At least M&M is from Detroit, so I will applaud that. Don't like Rap at all but as you said Sue just wait till next year it will change.

I’m a Gen X not big into Rap at all, never was. But last nights halftime show was excellent and very well done.
