I'm not a lawyer. Nor do I pretend to be one on TV. But I like Britney & have followed her life for many years.
How does this go on for 13 years?

It seems to me that there must be something else the public is not being told. There are plenty of celebrities, and other people, who can't handle money, have "intermittent" or even daily drug problems, and make goofy personal decisions.

How can someone nearly 40 years old still be such a danger to herself, and how has a conservatorship starting at 27 and lasting 13 years not been able to adequately resolve her problems?

Follow the money.

Oh, I dont' think there is much doubt that her dad is in this for the $$

Every time I read about her hearings I have thought the same thing, why? I also thought previously that her dad must be in it for the money. However, the courts keep deciding to continue the conservatorship so there must be something that we all don’t know about, right?

As noted above, conservators of both the person (basically they remain a child) and the estate (finances) are very rare unless over the truly mentally infirm, but there are also very strict guidelines and court oversight, including appellate review.

It's a unique story for sure.

This seems really weird that this has lasted so long.. Though an article i read yesterday mentioned she failed a mental evaluation in late 2019, and sounds like she is trying to have the conservatorship ended without having another evaluation.

I like her music, and hope this story has a good ending.

It sounds like she's in a manic episode to me. Makes no difference to me if she is. I know lots of people who have manic episodes and who are in control of their own money - granted, they are terrible with their money. However, if someone is working and they want to spend their money, they should be able to. It's a terrible illness with severe consequences, but if she wants to fly solo, she should be allowed to.

Or at least not have to be managed by a parent who she feels is abusive and there are clearly significant and severe personality conflicts.

That's the strangest part. An independent conservator could be appointed.

Isn't it the ultimate outcome of parasitic stage parents? She may have had mental issues on her own, but show business strapped rocket boosters on them.

That actually makes sense and sounds right. It's just awful. I had no idea her situation until a year or so ago. Makes one grateful for our simple, boring lives without fame or fortune. Not worth it!

Watch The Guardians (2019) documentary. Elderly people who are perfectly capable - private guardians come in take over their homes and lives. They put them in institutions. They sell off their home and all the stuff they own and keep the money all with the help of the Nevada Family Court system. They prevented the families from seeing them or taking care of them themselves. The woman featured, April Parks, was finally convicted and went to prison. The biggest scammer, Jared Shafer, seems to have escaped.

Oooh … thank you for this . Looks really interesting.

This much I think we know, she has some kind of mental illness and likely impaired judgment. But her conservators might have crossed the line when deciding that she should not get married or have more children. That is pretty serious stuff. She has enough money to have nannies care for her babies if she decides to have more children. She is running out of fertile years to have more children if the court does not give her freedom to make those choices for herself. I am not "picking" sides. This is just tragic, as it stands now.

I am not so sure about that. He collects $192K salary as her conservator. He also collected a 1.5% mgmt fee on her tours. That is pretty low on the fee and salary scale. These sort of positions usually allow 10% fee of all income.

Additionally, she went from being broke to have a worth of over $60MM. He managed her career and money well IMHO.

I also believe that her mother wants the conservatorship to continue, just not with the father involved.

I think the not getting married or having children is a good idea for her.

Look at her marriage to the back-up dancer. She married him, even though he had kids with other up and coming singers. He hit the jackpot and did his best to get as many kids with Britney before he was kicked out. She is not able to have unsupervised visits with her own children. The father has complete custody.

What does she need another husband or baby-daddy for? So, he can sponge off her money? She does not appear capable of raising her children.

This seems harsh, but better than the alternatives.

Britney has 30% unsupervised rights to her kids. It has been that way for several years already. She does have emotional needs like the rest of us. Many people are not capable of raising their children, mentally, emotionally and financially and continue to pop them out. She has the financial means to help solve the raising part. I think it is too harsh to not let her have more children. But what do I know!

Courts deciding something does not prove anything. Could be that daddy's lawyers are more clever than hers.

The idea that dad chooses her friends and dates is more than most folks with BP or similar experience endure. Forced to work? Way odd.

In my opinion -
Bi-Polar is not a disease. It is a Condition based on body chemistry.
A person who has the condition has cycles that can be more pronounced than the statistical norm.

Lithium - (a salt) can assist in balancing the body chemistry , that also balances brain chemistry ; thereby bringing the "up and down" cycles toward the mid point.

For some - this mid-point means they no longer feel fully the person they were when they were in the upper arch of the cycle. They might state - that they have lost their creativity.

For others this means they avoid the difficulties that pain them at the low part of their cycle .

The timeline of the cycle for each person with the condition is probably unique to them. - weekly - monthly - seasonally ( sunlight) ; and can likely vary based on changes in body chemistry, including those that occur during and after pregnancy.( post partum)

Some individuals cycles can be pronounced to up or down -from the mid point .(ie) mostly cycles up ( termed mania) or mostly cycles down (termed depression)

Lithium (or similar) can be compared to adding a strong crossbeam to a building. Your building gains long term stability - but an alteration has occurred.

Our society often uses various forces to interact with people.
Family - Police - Courts-Jails - Medical - Etc

Britney Spears has a personal knowledge on the positive and negative of this.
