I've had 4 inquiries about units I have for sale from whom I think is the same scam artist. The wording of the request A. shows they haven't read the ad at all and are asking questions easily answered in the ad. B. asking to buy it quickly for a birthday or anniversary surprise. And C. the return email address is not in the person's name and is always an easily obtained gmail address. IS it just me or are they approaching many others on TUG?

The TUG classifieds are open to the public, so yes, from time to time we get scam artists.

Please post the name as a warning to others.

same PHD guy as last week with a new email, just delete them.

Just checked mine and as Brian said, same guy. For those of you not familiar here's what his msg said:

Needless to say due to this great forum I immediately deleted it.

It's so weird. As soon as you start advertising for anything for sale you get mails from doctors!

Yup I got one too.... What do you suppose the scam is the cashiers check/western union?

Sounds like the same one I got recently.

The only responses I received to a recent ad were very similar, different phone numbers, both FL, only inquired if reservation still available. I replied to first one in the affirmative but never heard again, so didn't even reply to the second.
Have received similar responses to Craigslist ads.

yeahp! he is NOT for Real

.....and here is another of his names. I already sent him a message telling the "fake" he/she really is and the folks are on to him:cheer: . Here is his message:

Dr Mike grimes O Neary PHD

I got this same message today! I'm so thankful for everyone post. This
thread came up as soon as I googled him. Thanks again for the warning!:)

I received the same message from Dr. Mike Grimes...

come on what "Real" potential buyer is going to start out with Hi, I am Dr. XYZ, probably sitting in a hut somewhere sending these kind of messages out all day!

Well I'm not a shill for Dr. Mike (wink, wink)- but I just received full price plus $2000 for my timeshare and sent the overpay ($2000) to his agent in Moldavia as requested via western union.

I feel very comfortable with the transaction since Dr. Mike sent me a Cashier's Check drawn on the First Bank of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza in Madrid, Spain - I'm sure it will be fine.

Obviously phase two - - - From your response to his original phony inquiry

Hard to believe so many people need to ask if this is a legitimate offer/buyer, I only posted sarcastically because I finally got hit and was feeling left out

There are so many signs in the initial inquiry that just scream :cheer: Delete Me:cheer: Delete Me:cheer: Delete Me:cheer: Yet newbies land here daily to ask if they are legitimate:shrug:
