What should I Buy (Interval/MVC edition)?

Doesn't look like it would be worth enrolling that into Abound because the conversion tracker thread shows someone having a platinum plus and only getting 4,050 points out of it which is just more or less 1 week of usage. AND from my understand to enroll your WKV week would cost $15k. So that's ~$17k to pickup + $15k abound enroll = $32k to get ~4k abound points, ouch.
One caveat: the $15k to enroll in Abound doesn't just enroll your two resale weeks; that money is actually buying one of the Flex products from Vistana, so you would be able to elect those for additional Abound points on an annual basis (or just use them within Vistana or for II exchanges). So overall you'd end up with more than 4k Abound points available to you.

unless you need more, I wouldnt buy anything
+1

And if you need more because you want to continue to trade into SBP on an ongoing basis, buy another resale SBP (for next to nothing) and you will then be able to use your WLR StarOptions elsewhere.

Quick question for the vets, if you purchase a Vistana unit that has already been converted to Abound on the resale market; will the abound membership be transferred to a new owner?

No

Hmm thanks hun
No prob. If it’s a mandatory resort then you’ll still have VSN access with Star options but not Abound club point conversion. That “perk” ended for all resales after 8/9/22

Once you deposit your unit into II, can you have multiple ongoing search for the same unit or just 1 active search at a time?
e.g. for a 1 bedroom deposited in II, setup ongoing search for i) Hawaii resort codes in spring, iii) Caribbean resort code in summer, iii)... etc.

In II when your ongoing search finds something, does it stop other resort from coming up in the same search?
Seems like in RCI per this thread it would stop other resort from showing up. How does it work in interval?

How long do you have reserve something hits from your search?

Say you put 5 resort code in your search, some time later you get a hit but it's the least preferred 1 out of the 5. You decide to wait longer to see if one of the other 4 pops up later (but still keep the least preferred one in the running just in case nothing else comes up). How do you approach that?

You can have multiple resorts/dates in same search.

Yes, when you get a confirmed match, none of the other resorts can then match. In II, there is no "hold" like in RCI. You have up to 24 hours (close of business) to CALL II to decline the match. Once you decline, you should remove the resort, or change the dates, so that it doesn't match again immediately.

With experience you learn what resorts not to include, if you don't want them to match.

Have you decided on what unit you are buying?

Haven't completed decided yet but likely MGC or MGV platinum weeks. WKV looked interesting but cost a bit more up front. Think I can still accomplish a lot of my goals with the MGC/MGV options so think that'll be a good start.

If you are considering a MGV 2 bedroom, then you may want to look into a 2 Bedroom LO at SVV which comes with 95,700 Star Options.

For II, can you deposit a 2BR and request smaller e.g. 1BR to better your chance at getting a resort at a week you want?

Came across a very old and broken online interval magazine which suggest you can do so.

Haven't seen people talking about this strategy of accepting a smaller unit. Maybe because it seems wasteful if you can already maximize your trade by depositing a good week early and being flexible. But also curious if you can still do this "downsizing" option if you choose to and whether it really helps with trading power.

You can certainly request/accept a smaller unit than what you're depositing. Assuming the resort and week are the same, a larger unit does give you better trading power than a smaller unit. It's hard to quantify exactly how much, but the threads here contain examples from people who break up their lock-off unit into, for example, a 1 bedroom and a studio, and can see/exchange into units with the 1 bedroom that they can't with the studio.
