Madge,
At 5 am on July 5, I put a hold on a resort for 10/11/2008. At about 3:30 pm on that same day, I called RCI to see if I could get the unit number of that exchange on hold. The vacation guide I spoke with did some work on his computer to see if a unit number was posted, but it was not. Upon returning to my online account today to confirm that unit on hold, I was surprised to see that the unit on hold was now for 10/10/2008!!! I thought I made the mistake, but the printed record of my hold showed that the Vacation Guide had changed the date. Luckily, the unit I wanted was still available. I am upset that this switch in date was made, but I would have been one angry customer if the unit I wanted was gone!!
Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the Vacation Guide. All I know was that he was an Hispanic male who was on duty on Thursday July 5 at about 3:30 pm. EDT.
Have you ever thought of assigning your Vacation Guides a 3 or 4 digit ID number which they must use when they identify themselves? I called Verizon customer service the other day and this is what they use. It was easier to copy down 3-4 numbers than to write down a name. This way, if problems such as the one reported here arise, RCI can track down the VG and speak with him/her. Just my 2 cents.
