YAY, I'm finally able to make it. I've scored a Marriot Grand Vista week via exchange for that week, and then Wyndham Palm-aire for 2 weeks after. May look for another exchange or last call to pad further depending on things.

That's usually how it works. The past two years they've given us half of their private room in the back corner. Everyone eats in there, chatting and such.

The TUG annual Golden Corral get-together has been a highlight of our January timeshare experience for years.

Barring the totally unforeseen, we will be there Jan. 21, 2026.

It's not even December, & already we have resort & airline reservations for our January timeshare vacation in Kissimmee FL.

All that's left to arrange is car rental. We are leaning toward going with Turo again, same as last year & the year before. (We'll see.)

Meanwhile, we are counting the days.

One of these years when we decide to stop leaving Florida and going to Belize for January and February, we will be able to attend. It sounds like so much fun to put faces to names.

We will have a Golden Corral lunch in early March when we drive back to St. Augustine from our son's near Tampa where we fly to after returning from Belize. The 3 Golden Corrals nearest our condo closed in Covid and never opened up. Two of the buildings have been torn down and the Palm Coast one opened a year ago as a Chinese buffet. Stopping at the GC on our route back from our son's is easier than the doing the 50 mile drive each way, to the next closest one to us in Orange Park (Jacksonville).

There was a GC in Jacksonville that also closed down and reopened as another buffet. I think they have Chinese food, but many other different items as well. We keep intending to go try it some time.

Yes, that was the one on Southside Blvd. I read an article in a JAX online newspaper that it underwent a million dollar renovation to become Chows Country Buffet. I think that was about 2 years ago now. Years before GC closed that location we stopped in for a late lunch on our way to our St Augustine timeshare, not just to eat, but to kill time so we didn't get there at 1pm for the 4pm check-in. It wasn't too far off I-195 and we had missed the exit for the Merrill Rd one. We didn't need any dinner that night!

We have a pretty good Chinese Buffet in St. Augustine so I doubt we will make the trek up to JAX or down to Palm Coast for another one.

I just drove past that GC yesterday to attend an event at the St. Johns River State College. We didn't go in since I will be at one in January and my wife is also not a big fan of buffets.
