Any suggestions for reputable organizations with whom to contract to sell my timeshare?

Why not list them yourself? Brokers and other companies will need to take a cut to cover their costs and profit. Usually a minimum of $1500-$2000. That is mostly likely to come out of your sale proceeds, though it is possible they could get you more than you can get on your own. You could just try listing them for sale on TUG Marketplace and Redweek first.

More info about your Timeshare would be helpful. Many you have to give away and perhaps add a sweetener.

I intend to. My concern are the details surrounding the closing and the transfer of the deed.

If you find a buyer for your timeshare then the other fine details (such as closing and deed transfer) are really easy! Simply contact Legal Title Transfers at the following web address and they will handle the process for you.

www.LTTransfers.com

These folks are the go to for a lot of us TUG folks and are highly recommended!

Best of luck!

Thank you. That is helpful. Have you used them?

I have a timeshare I would like to sell or simply divest myself of.

Based upon what you own then your "easiest" way to deal with theses weeks would be to deed them back to Marriott. Contact them and they will instruct you how to do that.

You could give them away here on TUG but you have no idea if there will be a taker or how long it will take to unload them.

I looked at www.Redweek.com and it appears there are a lot of resales available there starting at just one dollar.

Best of luck!

Quick update, then I will end this thread. After extensive research and a little help from ChatGPT, we have decided to deed these back to Marriott. It is annoying to consider paying Marriott to take them back, but it is by far the most cost efficient option.

I thought you may all be interested to know that the offer extended by the sales staff at Desert Willow involved a combination of purchasing and extending to reach 7500 DP at a cost of $48,000 plus annual maintenance fees of $6,000+. Not a reasonable consideration for two 72 year olds. Based on the math including the original purchase price, maintenance fees paid for twenty years and usage, I am not certain it would have made sense if we were two fifty year olds. Lesson learned!

BTW, it was very obvious to us that Marriott carefully tracks past “update meeting” encounters and interactions based on our experience at Desert Willow. If you prove to be a tough customer, they will not waste time with you in the future.

Thanks to everyone for your input. We will remain happy Marriott owners, just not at Canyon Villas.

As long as you’re only deeding back your Canyon Villas weeks, then I think it’s a good idea. But if it’s your Maui or Kauai, weeks then you’re certainly better to try and sell those yourself.

As for desert willow, all that was was a sales pitch

Trust me, Waiohai and the Maui Ocean club are not going anywhere! We actually use the points from the Maui OC to extend our stay at Waiohai. It remains our favorite Marriott location. Maybe more than the location, because of the staff!
