Ocean Point Room Request

I will be visiting Ocean Point in early January in a 2 bedroom through an Interval International exchange. I am not an owner. I visited once before and stayed in Kingfish and enjoyed the views of the inlet and the quiet location. I know that as a non owner, my chances of getting an ocean front/view is probably not an option. If I call the resort to request a type of view, do you have any suggestions? Is there a building/view we should avoid (noise, etc.)? We were just informed that they are doing renovations on the Sailfish pool so we don't want to be near that building. Your input would be appreciated.
Thank You!
Brego

You are most likely going to be assigned the view of the unit that you confirmed into. What is the Unit No on your exchange when you look at the History on the II website or what does it show when you look it up on Marriott.com. If it shows oceanside, you will get ocean side.

I agree with Jeremy. In my experience Ocean Pointe is a resort that typically gives you the view code of the unit you exchanged into. Everytime I have exchanged there and gotten an oceanfront code- I have been given an oceanfront unit, (and vice versa for Oceanside as well).

If you have an oceanfront 2-bedroom it is more likely than not you will be in Kingfish- since 58% of all the oceanfront 2-bedrooms are in that building. There are 69 oceanfront 2-bedrooms total and 40 of those are in kingfish. Sailfish has 8, and the other 3 buildings have 7 each.

If you have Oceanside Kingfish is less likely (though not impossible) since it has 20 Oceanside 2-bedrooms. Sailfish & Cobia have 54 each while Dolphin & Pompano have 56 each.

Personally I don’t like Kingfish- so my request is also anything but kingfish and a high floor- since the lower floors will have more a pool and palm tree view than ocean. To me the other 4 buildings are totally interchangeable.

Thank you for the helpful information. If I want a quiet location, is there a building I should avoid?

Normally I’d say Cobia, Pomoano or Kingfish. Sailfish and Dolphin are near the Sailfish pool, which tends to attract more families. Water aerobics class was held in the Cobia pool last time we were there, so that can create some noise.

The problem with Kingfish is if you’re assigned an ocean side view, you’ll probably be in a north facing unit, which isn’t a great view IMHO.

North side of Kingfish is favorite of some as it’s quieter and there’s a nice north view of ocean since the condo next door has low profile. Ask for NE bank of rooms

I would absolutely agree with that assessment. We're big fans of Kingfish, as it's close to the beach yet not crowded, offers great views from many angles, and has been asking for that building for probably 20 years or more. We found the other buildings crowded and noisy in comparison. The downside would be that for families with kids, the other buildings are a better choice, as the Kingfish doesn't have equipment for kids.

Thank you for the helpful information! We have a 2 bedroom unit.

And you will get no sun on the balcony, so the unit will feel colder. Crystal Shores has a similar problem with their north-facing units in the winter.
