Maintenance fee warning

I was hoping to get a waitlist filled which would come up on December 27, 2025. I was also hoping to pay my maintenance fees on January 1, 2026, (as I am enjoying my chase sapphire Reserve Southwest A list status - free preferred seats with basic fare, and free extra legroom seats 48 hours before checkin. Based on 75,000 spend, plus the $500 southwest credit, and $250 Shops at Chase credit)
But now a warning appears on front page after login - pay rest of maintenance fees balance or you can't make any new reservations. Due dates are Dec. 20. Does anyone know if there is a grace period?

I previously owned an EOY unit and always had to prepay the MF to start using any of the points.

I admire your working out the bennies with your card, but I don't see a way to wait to pay and use points ahead of time.

You can always call and ask.

You must prepay your maintenance fees and Club Fees in December 2025; before you can make any reservations for 2026. Also, please keep a copy of your paid maintenance and Club fees receipts and the date of your transactions.

There is no grace period and I was very angry when I was charged a late fee!

My (mis)understanding was that my fee was due on the date that my week began, as this was never discussed or otherwise prominently disclosed anywhere when I purchaed my resale unit. But I have since learned that annual fees are due in December and the late charge is significant. ( The issue had never previously surfaced as we always paid early as required to submit reservations for the following year). Oh well, live and learn.
