in presentation offered 3 packages; lowest was $17k for $84K with$78 per month fee- we're not interested. We've offered similar inspection trips all the time and do several per yr. In last two yrs, IHG, Marriott and Hilton have all offered a week trial at discounted prices and we took them. Wyndham offered their Discovery program with the closer but more than what we want. They wanted $7995 for 800k pts or $4195 for 400k. supposedly would have NO fees [don't believe that] and 5 or 2 years to use. I looked on this site and don't see any recent comments. other sites report trouble making reservation, being harassed to go permanent and resorts that are not the best. What say you folks about this?

We did a discovery package that worked well as an introduction to the system, although we agree it's overpriced. If you do your research here on TUG and are comfortable that you know what to get and how to use it, just skip the discovery package and buy RESALE. For most people, buying from Wyndham makes no financial sense. I bought all my timeshares on eBay and it worked out great.
Now that we own Wyndham (and have gotten past the first couple of billing hiccups) we're finding it easy to use and generally results in very nice vacations. We take the trips we want when we want, booking 10 months in advance.

The advantage of the Discovery package is that what you paid carries over to a purchase price within the time frame stated in the package. That can work if you plan to make a developer purchase. If you aren't intending to spend the money to reach at least permanent VIP Gold there's really no point in spending money on a developer purchase.
Take a look at what you can get for $4k-$8k resale on the TUG Marketplace and eBay.. Spoiler alert; a lot and some of it is good stuff with lower to low maintenance fees! The only thing you don't get with resale is Plus Partners which lets you book Worldmark inventory. If that's important to you, you could look for something at the Vacation Village resort Grandview at Las Vegas that would give you an RCI points account. There's a lot of both Worldmark and Wyndham inventory available with an RCI points account.
