Has anyone ever received one of these emails from SVN? I have already placed a call to SVN Owners Services and they passed the issue over to the Issues Resolutions department. They all agree that there should be no issue (or one that they can see) and now they have passed the issue on to SVN Exchange Services department (but they need 48-72 hours, 72 hours means Monday). I am trying to trade my 2012 SDO for a 2012 WKORV-N week. I haven’t paid my 2012 SDO dues yet, because they have not been finalized. I have the email from SVN that says that “A Request First Assignment for your 2012 Sheraton Desert Oasis week has been initiated with Interval International (II)”. It seems like a screw up on their end, but I am worried about losing my reservation over an SVN screw up because of everyone being out of the office this week due to Thanksgiving.
Thanks,
Jason

Thank you for contacting Interval International to begin an exchange. At this time we are unable to complete your request. There are several reasons you might be receiving this message, and Owner Services will be happy to provide you with more information.

You may be receiving this message if you:
• Have a week from a previous Use Year available for exchange with Interval International
• Are outside your date range to request an External Exchange assignment
• Have already obligated your use right for this vacation ownership week
• Must first satisfy financial obligations to your Homeowner Association
Interval International will maintain your Pending Exchange Request for seven days in order to provide you with an opportunity to contact Owner Services at 800 847 8262 or 407 903 4640 to discuss your available vacation options. If we do not hear from you, then your pending request will be cancelled.

Please contact us as soon as possible to help ensure that you do not lose your priority to confirm any pending vacation requests with Interval International. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Owner Services

See the II sticky at the top of the forum for the depositing and exchanging procedure, and some tips to make things go more smoothly.

Jason, one possible explanation is that if you have put in an II "request first" and cancelled it. If you have done that the week will not released in Starwood as being available. If you have not cancelled a "request first" then I do not have an answer for you....

It happened to my Harborside week.
Starwood deposited a week to II and I made a reservation through online (back to Harborside), then it was in pending status for over 3 business days.
And I got a letter from II a week later which said my exchange couldn't be completed because they couldn't verify my deposited week with starwood.
I called starwood owner services, they transferred me to resolution and it took almost 1 hour to find out starwood messed up with my deposit.
By the time they figured it out and solved the problem, my Harborside exchange was cancelled (II waited one week to get answer from starwood) and I lost it.
I was really mad and asked starwood resolution dep. to get my exchange back.
Starwood couldn't do anything.
That whole mess came from that weird new deposit system and even starwood is very confused to tell which week was used, which week was deposited, etc...

It looks like Starwood and II got everything worked out for me. In this II account, I only own a single 1 bedroom SDO and the problem was tied to the pending (request first) request that I had placed. Within II, I clicked the Vacation Exchange button not tied to my pending (request first) request and that seemed to cause the problem. I didn’t want to click on the Vacation Exchange button tied to my pending/ongoing (request first) request, because I didn’t want to screw it up somehow. Needless to say, it looks SVN knows about that pending (request first) request confirmation number and since I clicked on the other Vacation Exchange button (even though they both the same 1 bedroom) week/unit it caused the problem but the online/live request created a new confirmation number. This sort of makes sense, but I didn’t think Starwood knew anything about my pending requests. I thought they were sort of disconnected and only checked with each other once a real request for exchange was placed. So does this mean that you cannot have two separate pending (request first) requests going on the same unit/week (i.e. one with only Starwood units/weeks and another with non-Starwood units/weeks)? I hope this whole thing makes sense. Needless to say, this was my first II exchange.

II verifies everything with Starwood. Since you only own one week - there was no way to use the same week for an instant online exchange AND continue on with the on-going request, at the same time.

If you had clicked the week used for the on-going request, II would have automatically transferred the deposit and the exchange fee, to the instant online exchange, and it would have gone through.

See the II FAQ at the top of the forum for all the details.

Denise,
I realize you are trying to be helpful, but saying "See the II FAQ at the top of the forum for all the details" doesn't tell you which buttons to click on (unless I missed something). I think we both agree there are flaws in the II system. My problem is that I only own one 2012 SDO week, but I have two Vacation Exchange buttons for a 2011 (placeholder) week. I just happened to click on the one that didn't have the ongoing/pending request (thinking that would be safer) and that started my problem. That part is not spelled out in the II FAQ (like I said earlier, unless I missed it).
Thanks,
Jason

I was actually pointing out the FAQ for general info., rather than about the specific button. However, this is what it says about using an ongoing request for an instant online exchange:

If you see an instant online exchange you want you can make it with the same deposit, your prepaid exchange fee will be used, and your on-going request will be canceled - automatically.

It is kind of odd that you had 2 place holders in your Acct. for the same week. That may have been the glitch.

Mine will show the same way within II. If I have done nothing, it shows one week. Once I place an ongoing, another one appears, so now it shows two. If I put in another ongoing, it will show three weeks (two associated to ongoing, one just as the week).

I know what you were seeing gtm...and I'm glad you got it worked out.

Thanks for clarifying - I don't have any ongoing requests right now so I couldn't check it myself.

Definitely confusing!
