Ok I’ll go first, copying my post made in error to the Wyndham thread. Actually, this is the best resale I almost had.

Before I purchased Grand Pacific Palisades I came across a free Carlsbad Inn. It went quick, I was second in line. The owner, who had it many years, said that she wished it had gone to my family of four, with two young sons, instead of the one who got it. Unfortunately, it had already been committed to the other party and I was left out. Can’t say for sure but I think who got it turned around and flipped it for a profit.

Mine is probably our Carlsbad Seapointe week 32 that I picked up from Sumday back in the day - 2012 maybe for closing costs only. I think it was about $400 all in. I also bought a free Club Donatello on ebay and found out that it came with two banked weeks. That was a nice surprise. I deposited those into Interval and took some nice trips. It's been awhile since I have found any deals like that!

Ok, now for my best resales...well, to be honest, my only timeshare purchases ever.

Grand Pacific Palisades (I purchased this because I missed out on the free Carlsbad Inn). I consider this my best purchase because it is two timeshares in one. The “first” timeshare is a fixed summer week. This is a perfect family resort and my family has had many great vacations. My boys have literally grown up with this being their second home. It is walking distance to Legoland and Costco. Many restaurants, an outlet mall and of course the beach are nearby. This has been so perfect for our family that we have gone here every year. I am planning on being there late July this year too, hope that happens. The “second” timeshare is that it can convert to 8400 HGVC points. As the boys get older the timeshare grows with us as it allows us to explore other destinations using the HGVC points.

DVC Villas at Grand Californian I found a great resale price for 160 points. I feel that this is a nice compliment to GPP/HGVC. Plus, if I needed to sell today it would be at a profit.

Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
I think mine has to be a few South African timeshare weeks with the accompanying years of RCI membership at a bargain price. Best trade with one of them was to the Manhattan Club. It was fun to own those for the brief moment in time when they were amazing.

I’ve got two.

I picked up the Plaza Suite (10th floor corner unit) at Gaslamp Plaza Suites for $1.53 on eBay and have rented it out for Comic Con every year.

I picked up a summer 1br 3rd floor Carlsbad Inn from a postcard company for $2000 and rent it every summer. I was offered $15,000 for it a few years ago and then the agent pulled some dishonest stuff during the transaction so I terminated the deal. Probably wouldn’t sell for that now but it still rents well.

my Seapointe week is similar. I’ve never used my week. Always the 6200 points and I live up the road so lots of day use.

I wish that I had found a HGVC Seapointe week. That would have been sweet. As it is I bought a Bay Club penthouse unit on Sumday for $700 so I have the option for 7000 points (not the best bang for the buck as a Vegas unit, but we bought for personal use).

I got mine back when the resale office at Carlsbad Inn could still transfer HGV points. They had a 8400 point 2 bedroom also but wanted too much. I should have made an offer. But, 6200 is nice at the one bedroom maintenance fee.

I picked up my GPP/HGVC from the GPP resale office and at that time they could transfer resales with HGVC. They also wanted me to sign a document that said the HGVC would only transfer on a subsequent resale if Advanced Corporation handled the resale. I got them to agree to a new executed document that says HGVC transfers if I sell it. HGVC no longer transfers on a resale so I am curious if my document will hold up if/when I decide to sell.

I picked up a free Platinum season Sheraton Vistana Villages Bella 2BR on Ebay (broker gave it to me for free because he had a slight error in the listing.)
It gives me 81,000 staroptions that I've now used to go to Maui and Atlantis.

I guess I should have added mine as well! I got a Bella for $100.

Lifetime in Hawaii, Disney's Grand Californian
I had a lockout at plantation resort for $700 back when it was giving 100ish TPUs in RCI. Even when I gave it away last year, the maint fee to TPU ratio was excellent. I currently have Lifetime in Hawaii, which I got for free. It's a cheap trader and offers bonus weeks for just the cost of maint fees. Lastly, I think our DVC Grand Californian points were a great deal in 2017 at $135 a point. With the announcement of SWGE, we knew the price was gonna soar. We have no intention of ever selling them since we're lifelong disney fans.

I bought a timeshare from a friend. She had no use for it. We used it the first year and she paid the maintenance fees.. It was so hot on Hilton Head that we decided we had to sell it. Week 28 Port O'Call on Hilton Head Island. We sold it through a local broker on Hilton Head and made $3000 on the deal!! No fuss, no muss. Ironically, or not, that same week, and unit, is virtually valueless now.

I bought our WV timeshare off ebay for 1 dollar. I was very happy as it was a perfect week in an area we visited and now have visited for close to 30 yrs. It is the only timeshare in the area. How could you beat the price. Well, when we received our first bill for maintenance fees it was for 5 dollars. That was the increase for the year as the fees were paid in advance. This was in an era that this was very rare and only for very unattractive weeks.

I also have a Port o Call I want to get rid of. Can you give me the name of the Hilton Head broker?

My best resale purchase was a Monarch Crown Suite. Bought it for $25,000; used it about 5 years; Marriott sold it for me for $41,000 minus their {then) 20% commission...

I found a lot of bargins from Sumday. My best deal was a Canterbury deed purchase price $100 all in from Kirk Marketing.
