We just checked into Kingsgate and got a different pitch from the parking pass crew. Sinc we are preferred owners, we need to attend a meeting to be sure that we are "grandfathered" in all of Wyndham's improvements for 2016. Seems that MF will go down, there will be a Wyndham setup that will be better than RCI for exchanging, RCI exchanges will cost more, new login coming...and other fancy enticements.

And if I don't give them several "convenient" tmes then I will need to sign a document declining to participate in the great and glorious new things to come. Oh, and this document must be signed when we check out.

Of course there will be no sales pitch and it is all for our good.

Am I right to assume that this is a pile of.....stuff?

I would agree with you ...

And Welcome to the WORLD of the "UNIVERSAL AGENT" ... the person checking you OUT of the resort.

Many of the older resorts have an checkout box near the lobby door .. to place room keys into if leaving when the Front Desk/Office is closed. Should be one at Kingsgate.

If they require you to SIGN OUT ... just act stupid and bring out YOUR FORM for having given up the unit keys .. YOUR RELEASE. And have that girl sign YOUR form first ... and then walk out.

PS I own points at Kingsgate ... want to bet the MFs did NOT go down?

If they try this with me, I will simply scribble "Refused to Sign" on it and tell them that's all they are getting. They can't force me to sign anything that is not directly related to the reservation and stay itself. So I will not be signing anything about owner updates, sales meetings, owner breakfasts, owner lunches, or any other type of gatherings that they cannot force me to attend, nor can they force me to sign anything.

Ohgeeze- you don't have to sign anything! You have a contract to pay your fees and use the resort NOT to endure their nonsense. Yes, I'd go with making them sign something saying they got the key turned back to them and saying you don't owe any money, but I wouldn't sign anything.

I got the same pitch at Williamsburg Governor's Green when getting the parking pass.
We attended the "owner's update" LOL.
None of the RCI, etc was talked about. I spent an hour arguing about how I wasn't going to spend $40K to buy more points in New York to get the $3.11/thousand maintenance fees and my present deed converted.
I finally had to get a little rude. Then they said sign off on no more special prices, freebies and all that. Signing is silly. I have signed off at least 10 times. They can undo it if they are making a sale.
Not worth the $100 gift.
