With all the great sightings that had been posted in the sightings thread.. we had been keeping an eye out for a SDO EOY to add to our weeks.. not like we need another week! :p Figured a EOY would be easier to convince myself it is not actually adding a whole week more.. oh the addiction... :D

Just paid $700 for a gold plus 2 bedroom lock-off... eoy even.. which includes the closing costs, transfer fee and 2012 usage for free! :cheer: :cheer: I hope that is a good price for it.. :) Now the waiting begins...

ETA: I have read all the threads about the upcoming renovations.. fingers crossed the MF doesn't get too out of control..

I do not own Starwood. What is SDO? Does any Starwood resort ownership get you Starwood preference in II? I would like to have that.

Sheraton Desert Oasis

Ownership of any Starwood resort give you the Starwood preference in II - SDO is one of the lowest cost options.

It seems like there are alot of SDO on ebay lately. I'm even bidding on a couple of EOY's as we speak. I don't really need another TS, but my plan to have a Marriott Plat EOY and a SDO Gold Plus Float EOY is pushing ahead. I really want to have II priority with both companies.

I already spend too much time on eBay as it is...

Update, I just won a 2BR L/O EOY (even) SDO gold plus float for $102.50. I get the 2012 usage, but have to pay half the MF's back. All in, it cost $1139.50 with closing, so minus usage, it cost me just under $200.

Not as good of a deal as the OP, but I'm still happy.

Now I have to decide if I want to keep my current SDO and rent it out/keep for additional trades or list it on the marketplace.
Decisions, decisions.....

I was watching that auction and tempted to bid. You got a nice deal. The only thing I'd personally use it for, though, is to trade into the Starwood and Hawaii properties and I don't see us being able to get back to the islands for two or three years so I'll probably look to pull the trigger later. In the mean time, I'll watch with a keen eye the maintenance fees during the refurbishment project.

Yes - but for that you need a Plat week, worth 148,100 Staroptions and they are more difficult to find and sell for a lot more.

The Gold Plus weeks (1-52 floating weeks) are great for II traders, but they are not worth 148,100 Staroptions, like the Plat weeks are.

To be a true Platinum week at Sheraton Desert Oasis the unit number must be in this range-

1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100

AND

the deeded week must be in this range: 1-21, 50-52

I think that is still a great deal since I have been following it for a while... they did not have a unit and week number in that listing so you may want to ask for that and make sure it is truly a gold plus week.. :)

I did confirm it was a gold plus float 1-52 on the title questionaire before paying for it.

Unit No (Deeded as Units 1077/1078/Week 26), Floating Week (1-52).

Thanks for the heads up!:D

or at least you are not showing up as a member. If you paid your membership you need to do a few more steps to make it "show" and then you can see the sightings forum.

Is there a chart of MFs for different Starwood properties? How does Sheraton Broadway Plantation fit in? I would be using it as an II trader.
MF of EOY on a Gold Plus 1 br. sounds close to SDO MFs. Any problems with owning at this resort? Reserves okay?

There's a sticky at the top of the Starwood forum that lists all the MFs. If you're going to get one as a trader, definitely get the small 1 bedroom. There is a large jump in fees to the Premium 1 bedroom. Here they are (keep in mind this is the last year of a three year refurbishment with no special assessment, so they shoud drop some next year):

Plantation Phase
2 Bd. L/O - $1,404.81
2 Bd. - $1,122.67
Lg. 1 Bd. - $906.72
2 Bd. EOY - $561.33
Sm. 1 Bd. - $498.09
Sm. 1 Bd. EOY - $249.05

SDO is definitely still cheaper to use as a trader.

How is SDO cheaper as a trader? I thought the maintenance fees for a 1 br at SDO were $515 this year. This one is $250/yr for EOY. Did I read something wrong?:ponder:

Sorry, I meant that I would buy an EOY SDO lockoff to use as a trader. The fees for the 2bedroom are less than the combined fees for the two halves individually.
