XYZ program no longer exists, it is now called Choose 2. But as Marty indicated, you can buy a Guest Certificate to give one to friends. Have given and received several XYZs using this. II looks at them just like any other exchange.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Normally I would call and do the research myself but I didn't want to start this conversation with II.

When yo do call, be sure to ask for the Choose 2 program, not XYZ. This is how II is marketing the program now. You can find a lot of details about it on their website. There is a banner on the main page before you even log in.

Correct....that is the new name. I didn't want to cause confusion because it's still the same program, and they would know what she's talking about regardless.

For a long time II officially called it the "Two-for-One", but sometimes acknowledged the name XYZ as well.

now it's "Choose 2".

Sounds more like an order of sides to me (with entree) but........:)

I called it XYZ the last time I called; the guy didn't flinch or correct me, but he did refer to it as 'choose 2' when he spoke. :D

Type 1 vs Type 2?

Did Type 1 & Type 2 XYZs both get folded into Choose 2? Or is there still a distinction?

From the II website...

Introducing... Choose2

Because 2 is always better than 1

Your vacationing just got better with Choose2! It's 2 times the fun with 2 ways to book. When you have an upcoming confirmed exchange, you can:

Reserve a second unit for the same week at the same resort or at one nearby, and vacation with family or friends.
OR
Turn one week of vacation into two. Travel the week after your confirmed exchange or any available Choose2 week thereafter. Stay another week at the same resort, visit a different resort, or even go to a different destination.

You can do all of this without exchanging another week or using additional points. Payment of an additional exchange fee is required.

For destinations and months of travel currently available for Choose2 booking, see chart.

Choose2 weeks are limited to select resorts, unit sizes and check-in dates. If you already have a confirmed exchange or are getting ready to book your next vacation, take a look at the chart to see if a Choose2 week may be available for you. If your exchange vacation is further in the future, keep checking back for the latest availabilty. You'll need to book your Choose2 week before the check-in date of your confirmed exchange.

I understood the XYZ required a two-bedroom (or more) deposit first. I didn't see that requirement in the Choose 2 FAQs.

Are there certain properties at certain times of year better to use Choose 2, than others?

As far as I know, XYZ 2 still exists and is a separate program from Choose 2.

No, the XYZ did not require a 2BR deposit. I have only deposited a full 2BR unit once and I have used 6-8 XYZ's over the past 5 or 6 years. I would lock off and deposit both halves and get 2 XYZ's, which were used mostly (but not exclusively) in Florida and Williamsburg. Perhaps you were thinking about the second type of XYZ, which could be used when you traded a 2BR for a smaller unit? I never used one of those.

I do believe that Old Hickory was referring to XYZ Type 2. With that, it was available when you accepted a unit that was of lower maximum sleeping capacity of the unit you deposited. XYZ Type 2 allowed you to take a second unit that where the combined maximum sleeping capacity was equal to or less than the maximum sleeping capacity of the initial deposited unit.

It really had nothing to do with unit size, but of course larger units tend to have higher sleeping capacities.

Have you tried booking this recently. A lot of the old "unwritten" policies have been changed, I noticed.
