Has anyone in the DC not been charged the usual $159 fee when requesting an XYZ exchange? I was told by II that the fee was waived since I am enrolled in the DC. Is this a mistake? I actually called back after booking a week to speak to a second II rep who told me the same thing.

That is correct, no exchange fee. I have done 2 XYZ exchanges now and no fee was collected either time. Love it!!

sounds right. as a dc member, you don't pay any exchange fees unless trading to a non-marriott resort. havent done it, but conceptually that is what i understand.

But the exchange fee for a Marriott to Marriott exchange is $119, where an XYZ was not considered a Marriott exchange and you had to pay the full fee, which is now $169.

Great to hear this though, free XYZs would be great. I don't think Starwood owners get the same benefit?

I am a DC member and have always paid $169 for XYZs to Marriotts.

Were the reservations with which the XYZ exchanges were associated in your old individual II account or your new II/MAR corporate account?

I sort of figured that XYZ's were an extra thing like Gold or Plat II membership, so you'd have to pay for them even in the DC accounts. But I also guess that like everything having to do with XYZ's it's possible that the reps will apply different rules to them, meaning some will process them for free and some won't. Great if you can get it, no way to fight for it if you can't.

XYZ

The XYZ was from my new account (DC) with II and it was for a Marriott exchange. It was one very unexpected pleasure as my wife and I really enjoyed our stay this week. Thanks to all who responded.

I guess we all want the name of that agent! Good for you that it worked out that way. An early holiday gift!

This has always been my experience and assumption also, but after reading these posts I realize that my previous XYZ's have all been from my old individual account. I have not yet used one from the corporate account, so maybe that is the explanation.

Where or what is xyz?

Sunbum, an XYZ is an extra week that you can get from II if you have a confirmed upcoming exchange in your II account. Check out this recent thread. Good luck!

I thought it was decided that xyzs should be discussed on the sightings board. Should this be moved?

I thought it was decided that xyzs should be discussed on the sightings board. Should this be moved?

Respectfully, there was never a consensus reached that ALL info pertaining to XYZ offers should be limited to the members-only Sightings board. Brian Rogers made it clear when he was asked that he was okay with the subject being discussed in whatever thread it might be raised.

There are several people who generously let other TUG Members know which particular inventory has been released for XYZ's so that a grid of sorts can be maintained. They have asked that at least all posts relating to the inventory be limited to the Sightings board, in much the same way that the particulars about what's available in II for flexchange is only posted in the Sightings board. Their request is reasonable and is being honored.

But just like I said in that Sightings thread when the idea was raised, I don't agree at all with a blanket policy of limiting all XYZ-related info to a TUG-members-only board. XYZ is an II offer which should be available to every II member who is eligible. TUG membership has nothing to do with XYZ eligibility. TUG's stated aim is to educate all timeshare owners, and by extension exchange company members, about all aspects of ownership. So until the TUG powers-that-be order us to stop talking about the existence of XYZ's on the public boards, I'll happily join with the other TUGgers who think that any II member who asks is entitled to know what an XYZ is and how to get one.
