I was almost suckered into Wyndham timeshare.
I am 50 years old and have kids 13,11,10
We have spent basically every vacation at a best deal of choice hotels since our credit card is with them and we get points. There are 5 of us so a normal room doesn’t work half the time and we have to upgrade but it is still just a little bigger.
We would love a room like the 2 bedroom suites at Wyndham, I am really tired of being cramped, living off fast food we struggle to enjoy the room.
We are not opposed to Wyndham but 17k for a timeshare it’s a bit much and I read so many bad things.

Our ideal situation would be something like the Wyndham access where we can get points yearly and spend them on rooms. Then have a card which a points as we use it. We pay most stuff on the card and pay it off monthly. We do 5+ vacations a year, usually on the weekday, 2-4 days, all within driving distance of WV, kids are homeschooled so we do vacations on off seasons, my job gives me around 4 weeks a year and my wife will take the kids sometimes on trips and I will stay and work remotely.

I would love to have some suggestions and help on what to do and how to do it.

Once you go timeshare vacations, you never go back. Wyndham is good and easy system to learn and use. Ongoing cost are very reasonable. The level of accommodations are pretty consistent and professionally managed.

Learn as much as you can in this group and try to read the owners guide front to back when you have a chance so you can get a good grasp on the system and understand the points chart.

Look and see how many points you need to own to take the amount of vacations in the size of accommodations you want.

Look on this site, or on Wyndham owners Facebook pages, Extra Holidays and sites like Airbnb. There are owners who are renting out their extra points. Many are not greedy and just covering their cost. You can find good deals.

Just learn how the owner priority period works. You do not have to be a owner to find out. Just google Wyndham Owner Priority Period and you will find the dates for certain resorts that fall in that period. Then ask the owner if they used their 2 passes for the year

Be prepared for others to tell you that renting is a gamble because Wyndham can cancel the reservation any time. They are not lying to you. They are correct. But many like myself who rents on Airbnb have permission to do so. Also, those who rent on Extra Holidays.

wyndham @ 17k is a terrible deal yes!

its far more appealing to buy resale where that cost is much closer to $0!
