We attended another Member Update in Branson. Of course we all know it's just another attempt to sell us more points. The sales rep told us we can get 2 bedroom units in south Florida for only 77,000 points all day long by having this program in our portfolio. I asked him several times to prove to me I could do this. He never would. I haven't heard of any changes in the system that has allowed us to do this other than the old fashioned way of booking smaller units then upgrading within the designated time frame of discounts/upgrades. Have I missed something?

Not exactly, raygo123; there is actually some truth to this "feature." It's just surrounded by misrepresentations.

DeeDibble, you are right: they are talking about VIP upgrades and using the cancel-rebook game. This works if the resort is expected to have excess inventory, but this is becoming harder to do according to some sources. The ability "to do this all day long" is a complete exaggeration, if not an outright lie. There was probably some seasonal gamesmanship going on as well.

I'd get into it, but it really isn't worth the tens of thousands of dollars you would have to shell out just to have the discount/upgrade privilege (it is NOT guaranteed). Do a search on VIP Upgrades and Cancel-Rebook... these have been discussed in depth on this forum.

so 2 bedrooms are available all day at 77000 points... just do the cancel and rebook and upgrade trick with your Platinum ownership.

Oh you are not a platinum owner? We can upgrade your membership to Platinum at just 20 cents a point, You can make out the check for $200000 to Wyndham Vacation Ownership

The mention of the Good Life (new benefit- ha ha) is what got me to the latest owner's update at Wyndham Resort Great Smoky Mountains this past weekend. Once I saw the brochure, I knew it only applied to VIP members game over, time to go.

The unicorn ride is really the key here. South Florida mountains, frankly, are not that difficult to climb, but to ride a unicorn on one of our peaks would be hard to describe.

Before you buy, though, be sure to check whether the unicorns are wild or farm-raised.

Wild unicorns are very difficult to ride. They buck quite a bit differently from the mechanical bull at your favorite cowboy bar -- it's more of an inward-leaning, outward-flinging, bump-bump-pause-explode motion, not dissimilar to salsa dancing...but on a horse-sized animal with the strength of a bull elk. And, as you probably know, unicorns do all of the bucking clockwise rather than counter-clockwise like mechanical bucking beasts.

So...unless you are a really experienced rider, don't go unless the unicorns are farm-raised. In South Florida, the best unicorns are the Equadorian GC's. Costa Rican unicorns are not bad either.

If you have any questions, consult your Wyndham sales weasel -- they have all the answers and won't lead you astray!
