Since I am spending so much time indoors, I am trying to be positive and think about 2021 travel plans. Planning a ski week, but now limited to the last week of Jan or first week of April, based on school schedules. Any feedback on late January at Wyndham Steamboat Springs/Wyndham Avon/Red Wolf Lodge Squaw Valley or early April Red Wolf Lodge Squaw Valley. I am limited to Wyndham points or GPX exchanges right now. I would choose Park City, but I don't have ARP for last week in January, Sundance Festival week. We are a family of 2 beginner, 1 intermediate and 1 expert skiers.
Thanks

I have been to Park City, Beaver Creek, Squaw. While I have not been to Steamboat, based on what I have read, late January in Steamboat would be great. Squaw can be risky in January as sometimes there might not be enough snow to open the expert terrain. The snow and conditions are more volatile in California. April is fairly reliable at Squaw but you will be skiing spring conditions, something that's not fun on beginner terrain.

I'd think the ideal destination for April would be Avon as Vail and Beaver Creek mostly face north and have high elevation. It should also be easier to find availability compared to January.

There is a lot of beginner terrain at Beaver Creek over 10k elevation and that should hold up well till first week of April.

Thanks for the great info. I will have to decide between Steamboat in late Jan vs Avon in early April then. Trying to figure out which is easiest to actually get on the slopes since neither are ski in ski out.

I've stayed at Red Wolf at Squaw five times and recommend it highly. When there is now, it is true ski in/ski out. Hot tubs, underground parking, BBQ's, etc.

That said, I would always prefer skiing Vail snow to Squaw snow.

I cannot speak to the specific property in Steamboat, but I was in Steamboat for President's week this year. Highlight recommend it on a variety of levels. I have already started the search for another exchange to Steamboat next winter. I was quite taken with both the ski hill and the town. Very chill vibe.

I have skied both Wyndham properties many times - steamboat and avon.

Steamboat - continuous shuttle to the slopes, generally available thru points, "reasonable cost", will need shuttle service from Hayden airport, or rent a car. Good bus service to downtown, walkable to 3 restaurants (one nice - 3 peaks, 2 bar food (Irish, and general). Good snow late January.

Avon - GORGEOUS resort, pricey on points, not very available (and never thru RCI), no shuttle, walk to short gondola across street, chairlift to main resort area. Also bus to main base, and cheap bus to Vail (20 minutes) as well. Also need airport shuttle - 50ish from Vail/Eagle, 100 from Denver. Snow this past early January wasn't great - we went to steamboat. Walkable to 2? nice restaurants, pizza place, subway.
