Hi All.
My husband and I own 2 weeks at the Wyndham Shearwater, imho the absolute best views in Kauai. We are winding down our travel and after many wonderful years we wish to sell the weeks. I am very confused about this. We exchanged our deeds for Wyndham Platinum membership years ago. I know the points continue to be Shearwater points. But I don't understand what I am really selling, the weeks or 800,000 points. Could someone please explain to us what to do. I do not want to use a reseller. I spoke to one once and it seemed like a real scam. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am interested in getting it and sent you a private message. When you login to your account do you see points at all? Or is it deeded week if deeded what week # is it? It seems you have Wyndham points.

I have some experience in this since I also have fixed weeks (also from Hawaii) that have been converted into points.

What you own is still what you bought: the 2 underlying weeks at Shearwater. When you "converted" the weeks to 800,000 points, you essentially wrote up another contract with Wyndham, promising them that had rights to use those 2 weeks however they wished, and in exchange, they would give you 800,000 points each year into Club Wyndham that you could use on other resorts within the Club.

There are 2 interesting points about conversions:
- The first is that it is reversible (at least in my case it is - you should double check whatever conversion paperwork or contract you have for your case). And usually it's free to do so...all you have to do is speak to someone (probably from Owner Cares/Special Services)
- The second is that (again, according to my paperwork, yours might be different) if you choose to leave it as points, the person that you sell/give the deeds to would still receive points. In other words, if the conversion contract still exists, it would convey with the underlying deeds.

So this basically gives you maximum flexibility. If you want to sell as 2 fixed weeks, I would call up Wyndham and try to cancel the conversion. If you wanted to sell as points, I would leave as-is and probably specify in the listing that you're selling "converted fixed weeks". One last option is that you can see if you're eligible for Certified Exit, where Wyndham would just take back the deeds, and in exchange they would give you 3 years of 800k points without any maintenance fees.

Why not post it in the ads section.
Some of us might well be interested.
It's a very cool property; I am in Kauai as we speak. June in Princeville is great from my experience at Shearwater.
For me, Points at Wyndham? The deeds OK, skip Wyndham.

Those points are a pretty good value per 1,000. We also own two Shearwater contracts that we converted to points in 2008 with a small purchase. I would keep it in points.

Still, the resale value is going to be very low. Wyndham points are mostly a giveaway. When the time comes to dump Wyndham, I will not give it back to Wyndham.

Shearwater is our favorite resort on Kauai. Bali Hai is such a huge disappointment for a stay after being at Shearwater. We like the Princeville area, and if I cannot get a Westin one bedroom, I want Shearwater.
