We have been researching our next purchase. After staying in Sapphire Valley, North Carolina the last 3 year on RCI exchanges, we decided we really enjoy the location. We have also stayed in Pigeon Forge and like that area. Therefore, we are looking at purchasing back to back weeks, one in NC, and on in TN (the respective areas mentioned).

However, there seems to be a lack of summer weeks available for purchase. We would like to travel in July, but are somewhat flexible and if need be, could travel anytime between June and August (school's out).

I initially was only interested in fixed weeks, but as I noted above, it does not appear there are many summer weeks for sale.

Questions:

1. Are Foxhunt and Fairway Forest also Wyndham properties?

2. If I buy Wyndham points, how difficult of an exchange would this be to get in the summer?

3. If I've done my research correctly, we will need about 150k points per week to get a 2 BR in the summer in these areas?

Thx,

Aaron

Yes they are. I could be wrong, but I believe that area (Sapphire Valley ) is most converted week, and I have no idea how many actually converted, so even if you buy a point, you may have tough time to get in Sapphire Valley if no week are converted.

2Bd is Sapphire Valley is 154k

Pigeon Forge is UDI, so it will not be an issue. 2 BD will need 166k.

I own at Sapphire Valley

Hi, I own at Fairfield Bay (126K pts) and Sapphire Valley (wk 34 154K pts). I have yet to SEE either as they were both internet purchases and have always exchanged. Here is my question, is there ANY advantage to owning at a certain resort? We have small children and go to Disney (A LOT). Stayed at Bonnet Creek this past June and LOVED it. I am looking at some points at Bonnet Creek but don't know if we REALLY need to own there... Any pearls of wisdom?

I'm certainly no expert, for me owning at a certain resort will mean the ability to return to that same resort without concern for exchanging. This is of course speaking of a weeks unit. From what I've gathered, points are points and it doesn't matter where your home resort it. Points can be equated to money. A dollar is a dollar anywhere in the US. However, it will probably buy you more in TN than it will in NY.

I bought a points unit in Orlando and probably won't visit that resort. But I wanted the points to get into other places, and possibly the 9000 point instant exchanges I've heard about through RCI.

However, if we can find one, we will probably purchase a fixed week in NC and another in TN at places we want to go back to yearly with our children (3 and 6) until they're grown. The advantage of that to me is I know every year during those 2 weeks, I will be in NC and TN. No calling RCI, Wyndham, II or any other exchange company and hoping to get in. I simply show up during my weeks.

Sooo..

No real reason to purchase at Bonnet Creek? I've never been to a Fairfield sales brief and will probably never go so I was just wondering.

PS: I would NEVER pay retail, but even on Ebay, X number of points at Bonnet Creek sell for WAY more than the corresponding number of points at just about ANY other resort...

I would buy at the cheapest place as you can use your points to go anywhere. We do not own at Bonnet Creek but haven't had any trouble exchanging in. Purchase at the resort that has the cheapest maint fees and plan your vacations 10 months out. Debby

We own a Sapphire Valley timeshare in the Foxhunt section, week 26 (usually that week includes JULY 4.) This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit, with double balconies overlooking beautiful Meadow lake. It's one of the BEST locations at the resort. We have been thinking of selling as we own points elsewhere and want to downsize. Call 843-237-8518 if interested.

I have deposited my Wyndham points into RCI and have gotten Wyndham in Seiverville the 3rd week of July the last 2 years with a 28K deposit. You just have to look about 8 months out for bulk deposits. I rarely see a Saphire Valley.

For Sapphire Valley for summer, I'd look for a fixed week.

But for Sevierville/Pigeon Forge for Wyndham Smoky Mts resort, if you're not wanting the 4 bedroom presidential, I think you'll find good availability for most summer weeks. I did notice that the 4th of July weekend is all booked up at Wyndham Smoky online when I looked, though. It wouldn't be a bad place to own some Wyndham points because they have reasonable maintenance fees. That's where our Wyndham points are deeded, at Wyndham Smoky Mountains. (Just bought some more resale as a matter a fact).

Wyndham also has a new resort in the Sevierville area called Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge - it has indoor and outdoor water parks.
