I am so incredibly sorry to hear that your parents were subjected to this kind of predatory treatment. It is absolutely sickening to think that salespeople are intentionally exploiting and lying to older folks.
As someone who frequently uses my own Club Wyndham points for travel, reading this makes my blood boil. It is deeply disturbing to know that this type of deceptive culture is encouraged behind the scenes.
I actually looked into the lawsuit you mentioned, and I am horrified to confirm that everything you brought up is completely true and a matter of public record. During the
Patricia Williams v. Wyndham Vacation Ownership trial, it was proven that Wyndham had a pattern of retaliating against employees who blew the whistle on their rampant elder fraud. The court confirmed the existence of "TAFT Days""Tell Them Any Frigging Thing" where reps were explicitly encouraged to lie to hit their sales numbers.

The details that came out during the trial were staggering. Evidence showed that salespeople purposely sold elderly buyers more timeshare points than they could possibly use before passing away, opened unauthorized credit cards in their names, and flat-out lied about maintenance fees and buy-back programs. Heartbreaking!
The fact that Wyndham lost a $12.8 million judgment over this, and yet reps like the one in Indio are
still using these exact same tactics today on people like your folks, is completely unacceptable.
