Heard from some owners today that recently did an update in Kona about a flat out blatant lie the salesperson used regarding Trading Places International. The salesperson told them they could use the 2 for 1 benefit as a regular week AND get a $699 maintenance fee credit instead of the bonus week, which is 100% FALSE.

The truth is you have to choose...
Option 1: the 2 for 1 which gives you a regular week and $229 bonus week.
'OR'
Option 2: give up your week for a maintenance fee credit up to $699.

It's not possible to combine them in any way.

FYI...Most people aren't told that the bonus week can only be reserved 45 days from arrival either.

Again, everything in the timeshare world that isn't in writing should be ignored.

One of the lies we were told was that we would have lifetime membership into tpi (like rci). That hasn't been our experience...

Ironically, when one does cut through the lies and half truths, tpi is a good program for owners.

It's been another tool for us to get more value out of our ownership. It's taken awhile but our points savings through VIP and the affiliate membership sites (rci, tpi) has saved us more money than the initial cost to buy our retail ownership.
