I asked a while ago if anyone knew anything about this resort but hoping maybe someone has some insight on this resort now.
Is the Wyndham Reef Resort in Grand Cayman part of the Wyndham family? My daughter bought a rental week to see if she likes it and since Grand Cayman is closed and she hasn't used it yet the salesman called her and was telling her if she buys a week there it's good until 2050 and then they buy it back. I know TS are worthless when bought, but he keeps saying that resort is different.
Any insight?

It is not part of the Wyndham timeshare. I think they are just leasing the name.

OHhhhhh, thank you. He told her in 2050 they buy it back when they sell the hotel. Now it makes a little more sense. But sure wish someone here owned a week there.

Just as a reference...my parents were given the same spiel about a luxury TS in Mexico...nice place and they love it but the "buyback" program was pay a certain extra amount and they buy it back at a certain date...I read the fine print and it was a lottery (not everyone got bought back) and now a few years later, the website to register for the buyback (lottery) is not even functional...so whatever you do, buy if that is what you want but under NO circumstances should the "buyback" be part of your analysis...if the TS is a great deal because of the "buyback" but not a great deal if that part of the deal were to disappear, then it is NOT a great deal...

I would want to see that in writing,,,it is more likely a RTU, right to use, that is good for 30 years and then Your ownership is over. You don’t get anything but you also don’t owe any more maintenance fees.
BE aware it is a fixed week resort, doesn’t float in a season.
I own at Morritts resort next door and really love the area.

Look on the resale market.
