Over the course of the last couple of years, when I'm doing RCI searches, I look at the availability for the Cayman Islands. The last month, I've seen limited availability for Wyndham Reef Resort, which I hadn't previously seen. When I checked the TUG Reviews, it has the #1 spot for Cayman Islands (9.25). It's called the Royal Reef Resort, but appears to be one-in-the-same. It is listed as a II Resort in the reviews. When I did a check of the top Wyndham Resorts, I would think it would be on the list due to its TUG rating. It wasn't.

Is anyone familiar with this resort by either name? The reviews are very good for this resort and all units are oceanfront. It is on the East end of the island.

I have always been interested in going to Grand Cayman. I'm more inclined to stay away from 7 Mile Beach because we prefer being away from the crowds.

I put a unit on hold today that popped up for a 1BR for next year. Previously, I had only studios available.

Has anyone exchanged into this resort through RCI before? Has this recently become a Wyndham resort? Recent RCI reviews (2) indicate that it is currently being updated. It looks like a really nice place and would be perfect for us. I can't say that August would be my first choice for going, but wonder if this is a difficult resort for finding availability. I don't normally do ongoing searches. I never have a problem with finding great exchanges online and the exchanges determine where we will travel to next.

I'm actually considering putting in an ongoing search for this one for a different time of year.

I'm looking for input on potential availability or maybe I'll keep the one that I have on hold.

I stayed at the resort when it was an II property. I like the location and the fact that all units are oceanfront, however the charge for energy usage was excessive. I believe we paid a fixed fee of $250 for the week. I would definitely check if that is still their policy.Next door at Morritt's we usually pay just over $100 for the same time period.

Yes, there is still a high energy surcharge
