Hi to everyone on the site that will read this. I just found the site yesterday and have been reading all of the wonderful suggestions and advice. Now for my question. I own 308k points in Ocean Boulevard. I purchased in 2005. I use my timeshare every year, but I have not gone back to stay in my home resort. I would like to increase my membership to the Gold or Platinum to receive the additonal VIP benefits. If I purchase from resale will my points sum together and bring me to the next level or do I need to repurchase from a resort?

There are a number of threads in the Wyndham section that address the various ways to get to Gold and Platium. The short answer is no. However, there are methods to minimize the costs. You may want to review thoughs threads. Oh my, I am about to speak the unthinkable, then talk to a sales wessal. I would recommend one at Myrtle Beach Resorts or Smokey Mountain resorts. Stay away from the National Harnor group. A bonified card carrying sales wessel should be able to help you out. Insist on a re-sale contract from through Wyndham Vacation Resorts/Ownership, they will fess up to having one towards the end of the presentation. It will save you a few thousand.

Ops, there I went, saying the unthinkable.

P.S. I am a platium member and do not regret it. For those who may advise otherwise, do not forget to ask what their VIP Level is.

For VIP benefits you need to purchase additional points from the Developer.

There are some discussions about how to finesse such a thing for the least cost.

Then, there is the usual counter argument, if you put a $ value on the benefits you would use, buying retail from the Developer as opposed to resale at next to nothing, resale is the better deal.

Wyndham pushed renting as a means to defray costs and there are discussions about at what point level that still makes sense with current circumstances, and how to accomplish it at least cost.

I would not recommend buying additional points until you have hung around for some time in a forum such as this and followed and/or contributed to some of the discussions.
