Wyndham Points deposited to RCI: Expiration Dates

I just had a very confusing conversation with an RCI VC.

I'm trying to figure out when I should deposit some points for an exchange to happen *either* in February 2013 *or* 2014. Obviously, I would like to deposit earlier rather than later to make sure that I get the earliest possible initiation date for my ongoing search. But, I don't want to deposit them *too* early, because I don't want them to expire before the potential 2014 exchange. And, as of today, there is no way to extend the expiration date on deposited Wyndham points, so I want to be sure I get this right.

In the "old system", where we deposited Generics, a deposit made on February 1st, 2012 would be good for an exchange beginning on or before February 28th, 2014. However, the Directory's precise language for the new deposit mechanism says:

Your deposit will be available for an exchange reservation for 2 years from the date of the deposit

(emphasis mine)

So, I called to see whether it was end-of-month two years hence, or day-of-deposit two years hence. This brings me to the confusing point. He said it was based on *use year*, not *date of deposit*. In other words a deposit of 2012 UY points, from a Jan-Dec use year, would be good until January 2014, no matter when they were deposited.

So, to try to understand how this *really* works, I'd like to ask anyone who has points on deposit with RCI to tell me:

1: When did you make the deposit? (Date if possible, but "middle of November 2011" is fine)
2: When are the points listed to expire? (You can get this from the Wyndham-RCI Portal account front page)
3: What was the Use Year of those points?

Seriously, tho, it's important to ask the right question the right way, and I think you did.

I made a deposit on Dec 16, 2011 of points expiring with Wyndham on Dec 31, 2011. Those points are shown as expiring in RCI on 12/31/2013.

To me, it appears mine expire at the end of the UY -- but I sure would NOT bet the farm on that. I'd be interested to see what another owner's account shows if they deposited several months prior to the end of their UY.

That could be end of UY, or it could be end-of-month-two-years-hence.

So far, no one has reported depositing before the last month of their Use Year. Interestingly, even some of those expire farther than two years out---by many months.

I deposited points in September and did not use all of them. I then deposited points again in December and now all of the points have an expiration date of March 31, 2014.

My use year end date is December 31. Both sets of points would have been canceled points that would have expired on December 31, 2011, if I had left them in my Wyndham account.

In November I deposited some leftover points from 2011 and all of my 2012 points to make an RCI reservation. Here's exactly what my acct shows.

Its 2 years out, end of calender year. This is since new system.

So if I make a deposit today with 2012 points, its good until 12/31/14

I have points that expire 6/30/12, I'll be depositing in June. I know you'll have it figured out by then, but if not I'll let you know the date.
