OMG, I’ve had at least 30 calls from these people in the last week and they are driving me crazy. Same scenario every time … I haven’t used my rewards and my membership is about to expire! I don’t have a membership with them. When I do talk to them, it’s a past resort stay or RCI activity that puts me on their radar…. I’ve tried being nice, being nasty, and every time I ask them to take my number off their list, I get hung up on! Makes me mad and there should be some control over this crap! Absolute harassment and I wish I knew a way to stop this activity. Anyone have ideas or suggestions? Gives time sharing a really bad name and we absolutely love ours!

I get the calls from "Wingate Rewards" about how I haven't used my points or weeks or rewards or whatever. There is no such thing as Wingate Rewards. Wingate is a brand under the Wyndham Hotels umbrella but the name of the rewards program is Wyndham Rewards. Their all scams, you just need to block their number or not answer the phone. Important callers will leave a message.

Welcome to the world of timeshare scams. If this is your first scam call about timeshares, you’ve been lucky. They are everywhere. Always cold calls. They will spoof the phone number to make it appear that they are calling from the same area code as your phone number hoping you will pick up so they can start with their lies. They rarely, if ever, leave a voice message. They will always be very vague about who they are. If they give you a name it will be intentionally generic so you won’t be able to find out who they really are. I like Googling the phone numbers (both the caller ID and the actual number they give you) and it is very rare that the phone number has any hits on the internet. If there are hits, they are usually people reporting the scam cold call.

The reason why they were not helpful, and hung up on you, is because the call you got was a scam.

The worse thing is that since you picked up and spoke with them, your number may be marked as a “good phone number” so expect even more calls from other scammers. Always let the unidentified calls go to voice mail. If it is determined to be a scam, block the number (although if they are spoofing numbers that won’t be 100% effective).

When I start getting harassing calls about our timeshare I fib and tell them we just got rid of it.

These scam calls are why I wish more Dr offices would just let us use the patient portal for communications, or even e-mail or something. I get like 5 scam calls a day across my home and virtual work phone number. 99% of my calls are just junk calls. I basically don't answer my phone.
