Wyndham Kingsgate resort fee

I was looking at Williamsburg to use some points before the end of the year. Looks like Kingsgate is charging a resort fee. Is this something new or has it been happening for awhile now? I know Smugglers Notch has been doing this for years. What is the sense of being a Wyndham owner and have to pay added fees at the resort?

They have always done this, I think it's $7/night. For what it's worth, if you have young kids, there's a bunch of amenities for them that do not exist at many other, if any, resorts.

They are also in the process of a huge remodel, the remodeled rooms are very nice. I'm going at the end of the month, was there last year too. It's the HOA that imposes these fees, not Wyndham.

It just a matter of time before resorts charge fees for processing the fees. It never ends. I'm waiting for a mandatory luggage cart usage fee, a room key surcharge fee, a common area wear and tear usage fee, etc. I better shut up incase resort managements read this post.

Kingsgate HOA has been charging a resort fee for at least the last 20 years. It was probably around $3 or $4 per day back in 2004 and is now $7 per day.

We personally like Governor's Green better than Kingsgate since we don't have any children. We went there allot. The units are bigger, you don't have to worry about using steps due to their elevator for a 2nd or 3rd floor unit (unless they don't work like they did on 1 of our check out days), and it's generally quieter (except when a train goes by). We would always request a unit near the back end of the resort so we didn't hear the trains as much as the front end of the resort.
