Wyndham is closing a handful of legacy resorts - dedicated chart/tracker located in the first post for this unfolding set of events

The only resort closing that affected me was OIRC. I still have a substantial Wyndham account.

I don't recall the timeline. I know I posted the events in this thread when they happened.

Edit: That didn't take long! Refunds processed on January 15. Points removed from account on February 8.
Thank you. I’ll standby a little linger longer. I’m just cautious about borrowing points for a quick summer getaway. If I don’t know what’s gonna happen to 2027 because I go negative when they go poof

Got an email with an agenda for tomorrow's River Village Phase IIIB Owner's Association meeting (that's Shawnee River Village II) and in the email it said:

****THERE WILL BE NO DISCUSSION REGARDING THE BANKRUPTCY OR SALE OF THE PROPERTY DURING THIS MEETING AS THERE ARE NO NEW UPDATES AT THIS TIME****

I'm sure somebody will ask... if they don't I will. I mean, the HOA is involved in the bankruptcy, isn't it? Or have they delegated everything to Wyndham's lawyers at this point?

Someone on Facebook posted a link to a former Windham Overlook condo for sale at $675,000.

I found a larger bay front condo for $995,000.
Apparently there is a bidding process for each unit.

Wonder what the HOA's are predicted to be?

I saw that. It looks like they’re concurrently taking bids on individual units and the resort as a whole? I don’t know how that works logistically but it’ll be interesting to see.

That seems ridiculously high for a COA fee.

It’s not shockingly high for a waterfront condo fee IME, especially with salt water. Most of the monthly condo fees in Myrtle beach for a similar sized unit with ocean front location are well over $1k/month for a two or three bedroom unit for example, some as as high as $2k month. We were looking at ocean view condos when we were down in North Myrtle beach a couple weeks back, here’s just one example - and this is a block off the ocean - not ocean front - HOA fees are $922/month - for a 3bdrm/3bth 1262sf condo:

Maintenance on waterfront homes and units is markedly higher than inland units - especially salt waterfront - hence the higher fees.

All they said at the meeting about the bankruptcy is that they expect it to be filed in the next three weeks. I take that to mean 4-6 weeks

Does that expected filing include depuy village?

By the way, I think whenever the bankruptcy is "filed" it will still be some amount of time before the court appearances start. I went back at looked at the OIRC timeline and it seems like their bankruptcy was filed on 10/23/2025 but the first court appearance was not until 10/29 and some more court dates took place in December.

In other words, this part of the process is just getting started... once it actually gets started.

Will Wyndham sell all these timeshare resort to another major timeshare company in the future? Will it be cheaper to purchase these timeshare resort from Wyndham by a developer.; than for another timeshare developer company to try to built new resorts in the same location ?

We are coming up on the July 4th week... that's when all of us found out about this last year...

Anyone gearing up for "round 2"???

Bankruptcies of this nature are measured in months/years, not days/weeks. The wheels of justice turn slowly, which is pretty much universal any time we're talking about legal proceedings of any kind.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no round two, given round one is not anywhere close to being completed - even the first resort - OIRC - isn't through the proceedings successfully as yet. I think you're jumping the gun as a result.

The resorts are closed due to projected high maintenance costs of older resorts and lack of owner occupancy. If they are proven non-viable as timeshares, why would any timeshare developer be interested?

Perhaps for a second or third tier timeshare company as opposed to the majors (T&L, HGVC, MVC, etc.), dependent upon their willingness to invest in property improvements and upgrades, but IMHO most of these resorts will convert into individually owned condos at some point. One of the Newport resorts is overtly already attempting to do so for example, I think this is likely for the majority of the resorts that are outright closing as opposed to downsizing. I think the downsizing resorts may still be picked up by other timeshare entities in comparison.

[moved to ongoing thread]

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any new destinations/ company to replace the bankruptcy resorts.

As per the long running thread on this topic - nothing imminent.

Yes, all the HOA's in Shawnee will be included. Did Depuy have some full interval owners? All issues related to full interval owners have been resolve and the bankruptcy will proceed "soon."
And what web site will report the bankruptcy filing?
