Is it just us or does inventory seem to be lower than previous years? We cannot seem to get into resorts; we had no issues prior to this year.

Yeah well, people are starting to travel, and everyone has last year points and this years points. High demand + Excess Points = Low Inventory levels.

These are NOT normal times, and likely will not be for a year or two more as people burn through their store up points.

Will this will lead to more owners having points available then they can book?

Nobody should be surprised considering that a huge percentage of people put off travel last year, pushing inventory forward to 21 or 22, it will be bad next year too... but will level off in 23.

Luckily i have all ok 21 booked and half of 22 booked. Might just book larger units and fewer trips in 2022. :ponder:

Because of this, for both this year and next, we have made sure (or will make sure) we planned ahead and booked 10 months out. It was still not perfect when it came to getting what we wanted, but we used our points and are happy with what we have.

Another factor is that the school calendar is irrelevant.

My experience is that the normal Spring Break (week before and week after Easter) were slower than normal but weeks after that have been busier than usual.

Bonnet Creek is usually very available in May and early June. Not this year! Why? Same thing. Kids are tele-schooling (or whatever it's called) and it doesn't make any difference where they are.

A lot of Colleges didn't have spring break this year. My son's school did this. Most Public grade schools from what I have seen are back in person by now. One has to assume things will be back to normal by the end of summer

We moved most all of last year points to this year and a few into 2022. We used all our points this year. We have started to book for next year all ready.

Maybe approaching back to normal in terms of school breaks, but not yet back to normal in terms of a pent-up desire to travel being unleashed and a glut of points to be used in 2021 and 2022.

I've only ever had spring break be between week 11-13. We only get good Friday off and Easter Sunday. IMO, I don't understand why we get even get good Friday off, but not the major holidays for other religions. The schools are supposed to be separate from the church.

We never got Good Friday or Easter off of school, or any of the years I was in college. We also only got 2 days at Thanksgiving. But the kids here now get a week at Thanksgiving, plus 2 weeks at Christmas, plus Good Friday, some years Spring break lines up to that too. I agree schools should not have holidays for any religion.

At work, I have never gotten Easter or Good Friday off... which is expected. My wife gets Good Friday off, as well as a couple Jewish holidays (her company is based out of NY) and a couple other holidays I don't get. I get Veterans Day off, she does not, but she gets President's day off and I don't.

This has been a wacky year

Secondary schools around here float Spring Break. Public schools have the week before Easter off. Parochial schools the week after.

I don't care about spring breaks for colleges, where the "academic calendar" rules. They are mostly in March, unrelated to any holiday. I try to avoid renting to college kids during their spring break. I was a college kid once!

If you are visiting Orlando, spring break is really a season that starts in early March and goes until Easter. In Florida and the South, many public schools have the break in March.

Some schools will also double-dip, taking a week off in March and a couple of days before Easter.

This is also the tail-end of snowbird season, adding more visitors.

The post-Spring break crash is in May, which can be a good time to visit Orlando and you might get lucky with the weather.

Our school district typically has spring break the week before Easter (ensuring Good Friday off) and they also take the following Monday after Easter off as well.

2022 will be an exception- with Easter not till the second weekend in April, we have Spring Break the last week of March and then have Good Friday & Easter Monday off in April as well, but that only happens when Easter is especially late. They don’t want to have Spring Break in Mid April when the School year ends before Memorial Day.
