Shell member for 13 years. Plan to use the Deed Back Plan later this month, and have a file number from previous conversations with the Deed Pack Plan staff.
Paid off more than ten years ago, all maintenance fees current. \
Checked in to the Kona Coast resort recently. I asked for a No Contact From any Shell sales agent. However, one called within minutes of arrival.
I explained that we have a current exit plan. The sales agent told us that this plan is NOT AVAILABLE FOR HAWAII SHELL OWNERS. This is false, and likely
qualified as Fraud. She explained that the Exit Plan agent was misinformed, that he was new at his job, and he should not have told us that All OWNERS can participate in the PROGAM.
The agent stated that if we attended a sales meeting, meeting, meaning member update, that she would "take care of us", a reference to a future and unplanned transactions, likely to purchase more points. The supervisor said that agent would be "disciplined" for her statements and actions. He also explained that the agent was in violation of policy, once an exit plan is started that sales agents are prohibited from calling.
This was very upsetting. We have been using all our points with anticipation that the Exit Plan would be honored, and that we would continue the exit plan process this month.

I would like any advice, or description of similar experiences.
Mike

Ignore sales.

I would not wait to use the deed back, though. There have been reports of Shell owners being turned down for that program. I'm not sure what having a "file number" means, but unless you have actually started the process it is possible that the answer has changed since last you spoke to Wyndham.

Somebody's lying but I don't see it rising to the level of a fraud. Timeshare owners and sales prospects are subject to frequent misrepresentations, intentional or otherwise.

Unplug the phone, that sales agent calling is the one that needs discipline, his nose must have grown a foot from all the lies.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
Hi Mike. I have JUST started the certified exit process although I do not own Shell or in Hawaii. That said, everyone at Wyndham in the Certified Exit Dept (if there is such a thing) has told me the program is subject to change without notice. I too was waiting to start the process until after I had used my 2024 ownership points. With that having just occurred this past week, I started the exit process yesterday.

There have been some minor changes over the past 3 years, since I first started researching the ins and outs of the process. The nuances relative to your specific situation may have had changes. Best to get your information (and advice) from the actual department at Wyndham and not the timeshare sales people during a resort stay.

P.S. Having just re-read your post Mike . . . you have not really "started an exit plan" yet. Once you have ACTUALLY done so, you have no access to your points. I was also told that I would no longer have access to my RCI membership and any points or vouchers with them. So the very fact that you're currently staying in a resort using your points tells me you haven't really started the process. All you have done, is start the fact finding. At least that is what you're telling us in your post.

THIS! I initially got a "file number" years ago so when I called in the future, the phone rep could access the documentation relative to my desire to exit my ownership at some point in the future. Yesterday when I formally started the process, a new number was given to me. I was told it would take 6-9 weeks for the title dept at Wyndham to send me the drafted documents that I would be required to sign with notary, and return within 30 days. From that point (the return of the notarized documents) it would take another 2-4 weeks.

But yesterday, they were clear to me, as of the start of the process yesterday I would not have access to book any future stays or utilize RCI any further.

And this happens ALL THE TIME throughout the timeshare world! Sometimes the check-in department is slow to notify the sales folks . . . or they simply "forget" . . . it's not the same people or area within the resort. The suggestion to unplug the phone is the only way to avoid calls . . . but be prepared for the unwelcomed knock on the door. That happens too, complete with door hangar cards that read sometime like "Sorry we missed you. Please call us to learn about special savings for dining and activities." I know from firsthand experience because they did that to us on our recent stay in Pompano Beach. It wasn't a problem for us because we had arrived after (sales) hours and had to go to the concierge desk anyway to obtain our wristbands PLUS we wanted to go on the update to obtain some discounts/vouchers on activities in the area.

I've been a Wyndham VIP Platinum owner for almost 30 years, back when it was Fairfield. When the time comes to leave the program, if Wyndham doesn't want my deeds back and make it difficult for me to leave, I'm walking. I'll send them my deeds and a certified letter saying that I'm out.

very helpful, thanks, if I can't have a deed back, I will do the same. Credit history is not a concern. Our credit is perfect, and we do not plan on any debt since we are in our eighties. Do you know any one who sent the deeds back.? I will cancel our monthly maintenance fees if I send the information by certified letter.

I may take the same action,, I'm waiting to hear from Wyndham regarding deed back, if this doesn't';t work, would you still advice mailing the deeds by certified letter, or what other options might you suggest.
thanks

Deeds are recorded. Sending Wyndham a copy of the deed in the mail doesn’t have any legal impact.

Don't answer the phone. Problem solved. MVC probably made 15 calls to my phone while I was there last year. They never got in contact with me.

I'd still encourage people getting out to try offering it in the free timeshare forum here to give more people resale opportunities to get it vs the developer sales.
