I have read awful reviews on the condition of Emerald Grand.. has anyone been lately.. called the resort and they did confirm the rooms are worn and get a lot of traffic but could not give me the rooms that have been updated.. is Panama City better? Taking my military kids and would like a nice room considering their current conditions.

PCB is directly beach front. I would chose it every time over Emerald Grande when you cannot just walk down to a beach.

PCB is on the Gulf, whereas EG has a harbor in the way.

We love PCB. Try to get an Oceanfront Upper Level if you have the points. EG usually shows 3 bedrooms in their inventory and they are a bunch of points especially if you don’t need anything that large.
I hear Majestic Sun is nice and Bay Club II people seem to like.

Any recommendations of things to do in the area around Thanksgiving? Thanks for the tip on the upper level...

Trip Advisor reviews are just awful at Emerald Grand... The front desk didn't seem to positive we would get a decent room... And for the points i see Panama City being much better all around..

1. Check historic temps at that time. Really not that warm compared to south Florida
2. Since it’s Thanksgiving Christmas decorations might be on display already.
3) Fun to drive to all the historic cities
4) We go for motorcycle bike week in April when the weather is very nice. That’s what we do while in the area ride motorcycles. Lol

I know you did not ask, but if you want warmer weather and need to use Wyndham pts you should go to Pompano Beach area. There is much to look at and do in the area. Most likely boat parades to watch. Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale, Key West

For things to do, it's about an hour drive each way, but check out Florida Caverns State park. We are looking to head to PCB in November as well and will be visiting there again, it's worth the trip.

Made the mistake of staying at Emerald Grand in early Dec once and agree that temps can be cold in late November and early Dec with high temp average 64 and low temp average 45. Pompano has much better temps at that time of year with average high temp at 78 with average low temp 60. Xmas decorations will be up and xmas parade usually 1 st weekend in Dec.

Emerald Grande had poor management. It would be a lot different and nicer if Wyndham was the management. The facility is rundown, except the condo's Wyndham owns.
