Has anyone had any experience with Wyndham's Certified Exit program? We are getting older and our travel options are getting fewer and we want to see about getting out of our Wyndham timeshare. The last rep we met with told us that they might buy it back from us for some percentage of our original cost. I don't imagine it would be a lot, but I would like to hear from someone who has been through it and see what happened, or didn't happen.

Go to the Wyndham Forum and look at the top of the page. The third "stickie" in the list will keep you busy reading for a while.

Welcome to TUG!!

Thanks. I will look at that, but am really interested in talking with someone who has has been thru it in the past year or so. Old info is not really relevant

Read a little bit and I think you'll find that someone else's experience, even though recent, isn't really relevant either. Each case is different; Wyndham does what it wants and there isn't always any apparent rhyme or reason for it.

In any event, you'll find some posts that are somewhat similar to yours. PM those people (Start A Conversation) and see what they have to say.

Good luck!

Wyndham certified exit is free, which is better than many of the timeshare programs out there, but they don’t give you any money either. It’s a surrender program. Given that the vast majority of Wyndham contracts sell on eBay for at or less than closing costs, it’s a good deal unless you own a high-value contract like Bali Hai or Canterbury.

At this point is was just a phone call to get basic information. We spoke with a gentleman in that department. We have not decided that this would be our best resolution.
Just looking for people who may have used and what their opinion/results were.

They definitely don't buy it back from you. In some cases, depending on what you own, they will allow you to give it back without any cost to you. But they don't buy anything back. There is one limited caveat (Pathways) but i'm going to guess you are not part of that very limited program.

No, I’m not in Pathways. I haven’t even called Wyndham about exiting yet. I want to be prepared when I do. So I won’t even ask about selling, only giving back. So thanks for that.

Oh, never mind. I see this IS the Wyndham forum.
We just completed this process. It took about 3 months. One thing you need to be aware of is the MF issue. We were on automatic payment of the MFs every quarter. The exit process was started on August 22 and we made the quarterly MF payment on September 1 since MFs have to be kept current for the process to go forward. We finally got our official exit letter on October 22 with the account cancellation effective on October 15. I was told that even though we had prepaid the MFs through November, we would be getting NO refund. I will admit that the information email did say that MFs had to be current and there would be no refunds. Silly me, I assumed that meant no refunds for the processing time. But it means NO REFUNDS of any type for any reason. If you were unlucky enough to have prepaid your MFs annually, you were out of luck even if your exit closed in March (for example). What a racket. Just makes me doubly happy to be out of this crazy system. Before you start the process, make sure you are paying monthly MFs so the most you can lose is part of a month.

I didn't even know it was possible to pay them quarterly.
Yes, we had set up quarterly payments a long time ago so I didn't have to worry about missing a payment. Should have set it up for monthly in retrospect.
