Wyndham Austin ADA Policy has changed

We have stayed at the Wyndham Austin many times. We always try to book an ADA unit (my wife is full time wheelchair), but, if not available at time of booking, always call a week or so out to verbally request one with the full understanding that if there are none available, we will not get one. We have almost always been transferred into an ADA unit, but sometimes not. We have done this at multiple Wyndham properties.
Apparently the policy has changed at Wyndham Austin. They had two units available for the length of our stay available, and said they could not move us into one of those available units. They explained that only Wyndham ownercare can do this. When I checked the Wyndham website, it showed NO ADA availability, even though the Wyndham Austin front desk said they had two available.
I wonder if this is now the policy at all of the Wyndham’s? If this is a new Wyndham policy, no possibility of getting an ADA unit even if they are available at the time of checkin, this will probably be a game changer for us with Wyndham. We have never experienced this at any of the other Wyndham’s, or at our Marriott’s or Hyatt’s.
Let me add that our unit is fabulous!

Oh wow, I can't imagine them implementing that as a policy. When you search for rooms, are you selecting accessibility (otherwise they don't show up)? Although that is not the true issue here, it might help you out in the future.

And pet peeve, I just hate it when a resort tells me to call owner care for assistance. I don't believe they can EVER do anything for you in situations such as this (booking issues). Never. The resorts can.

If Wyndham is going to enforce policy like this, they really to make sure those booking assistance rooms need them. I can't imagine enforcing something like that, but if they aren't going to help you out as policy - they need to manage things differently.

I think whenever we hear of a new policy that degrades our Wyndham experience, we have to hear it from a second or third person before we should believe it. This particular policy doesn't sound believable to me, so I would look to get it confirmed, probably by the resort manager. Even after the fact, by calling or emailing the resort.

We received a call from the Wyndham Austin and they were very gracious and said they would move us immediately. We are happy in our room, as I said we are used to not getting ADA units, that’s just life. I just wanted to see if Wyndham policy had changed. I was assured it had not.

I just searched and all of the ADA units described above are there... Not sure what happened, they were as perplexed as me when we checked at the resort....!!

FYI, the Wyndham Austin is still a fabulous timeshare. And it is GORGEOUS here today!!!! Going to squeeze into Little Woodrow’s in an hour or so for a beer(s)!

Beach Street Cottages have up and down condos/cottages - no elevators. I can't climb stairs. At check-in the staff always accommodate me with a lower unit. Star Island and Nashville both have a couple buildings without elevators. If I'm assigned to an upper units in one of those building, the staff always accommodate me. I don't see why Austin won't. Sounds like they need training in customer service.

I didn't know Nashville had a couple of buildings with no elevators. Do you know the building numbers?

I think I must finally be on the Do NOt sell list. Spent the weekend in Vegas, and they never even asked us to attend!! Yay me!!

There are two or three, 3 story building close to where you check-in. All the four story buildings have elevators. The three story buildings were built as apartments before Wyndham Resorts bought the development and turned it into timeshares.
