The following timeshare is up for sale on e-bay, and it states the maintenance fee is $401. It is for 511,000 annual points, in the San Diego area. Item number: 380046888908

I questioned the seller, and his reply was to "confirm" that the $401 is an "annual/yearly" maintenance fee. I don't believe he knows what he is talking about.

Any comments???

Tony

There isn't anyway that he is correct. No way at all...

He is lying or has no idea what he's talking about. Too low no matter where they are based.

In the WM Thread I was quited $ 4.40/1000 + the fair share fee

Something is way off here. Proceed cautiously - check things out carefully if you are interested in buying, including a call to Wyndham with contract numbers, etc. if this is possible. I'm not sure what Wyndham's policy is about giving out that kind of info. I would expect the MFs to be closer to $2500 for the year. I can't figure out this number, it doesn't make sense as a monthly or annual payment.

The transfer fee is also wrong- just to add another "oops" to the seller's list of errors!

Buying timeshares on eBay is like panning for fool's gold - the search may be fun and what you find may look shiny- but.............

i also inquired with the owner about the maintenance fees and was told the same thing....it just doesn't add up.....BUYER BEWARE! I guess you can always get out of it also if he mislead you...gave false information...??? use caution

See if you can get the contract # out of him, and then call Wyndham financial to confirm things. They aren't supposed to talk to you without the owner's permission, but sometimes they do.

If you can figure out what it really is, and it's a good deal, you have the potential to get yourself a bargain---the listing is so screwed up, most peopel who know anything at all won't touch it.

Maintenance fees for Harbour Lights for 2008 are $4.40 per 1000 points. To that you add the FSP fee, approximately $.52 per 1000 points.

So, 511,000 points at Harbour Lights will have MF and FSP fees totaling $2514.12 per year or $209.51 per month.
